    borrowing and breaking

Depends on the atmosphere at the yard. If you like it there and the atmosphere is generally good, if you can afford to I would just chalk it up to experience and not lend out anymore especially to her. If you cannot afford to lose it then I would tell her that it's not a cheap piece of...

Max weight this pony can carry?

I was expecting a chunkier pony. How regularly would your niece be riding him? If it's a very regular thing then maybe not. If it's a once a week kind of thing then I wouldn't worry too much. As said above if she's a big girl for her age. Getting into riding and the jobs she may well...

Would you buy an obese/very overweight pony?

If you're son is set on having him then get him vetted and stipulate you want him tested for EMS as part of the vetting. A fat pony wouldn't put me off as such but the length of time it has been fat and what the workload has been like would impact on whether I'm put off or not.

    Wind!

All 9 are out. Plenty of hay to keep them busy and nice warm rugs. Will guarantee the shetty is parked under the IDxTB lol!

    HELP! Lice!!

Louse powder is pretty useless nowadays it's like they've built a resistance to it. Get some coopers fly repellent and put it on them near, focussing on making sure it gets into his mane along his spine and dock well. But also put it all over his body. I transfer it into a spray bottle and...

I dont know what to do!

I don't mean this to sound horrible but I have a horse that was branded evil because he was with the wrong people twice! First time the woman was much the same as you and paying someone to go in the field and see to him on a daily basis because she was so frightened of him. We took him on...

If you've had a horse that was 14.2hh at 4yo.. Did it grow?

She's lovely! Alfie's growth spurts have been quite sudden and extreme. I've really struggled with him keeping weight during a growth spurt he goes up so far so fast it's ridiculous. When he was only 13hh at 3 I seriously considered selling I had him from 6 months old but I genuinely...

If you've had a horse that was 14.2hh at 4yo.. Did it grow?

Thankyou :) he was rather an ugly duckling, and now he seems to be heading back into a lanky phase all over again lol. He's a welsh Dx so very likely he won't finish fully until around 7/8. However I highly doubt he will put on another hand....I hope lol!

If you've had a horse that was 14.2hh at 4yo.. Did it grow?

If you've had a horse that was 14.2hh at 4yo.. Did it grow?

My coloured Alfie, at 3 stood at 13hh just, by 4 was 14hh. Now at 5 he is standing at 15.1hh. He wasn't expected to make 14hh bet passported him at 13.3hh. Need to get that changed lol!

    Help!! Confused....

Can't say I've ever heard or done box est for a splint. Field rest maybe while it settles but never box rest. OP I think the reason people have been "rude" as you put it is because you actually used the words getting a vet is expensive. Sorry but that's like a red rag to a bull...

And this is why you do not use sheep wire as horse fencing!

Poor horse, there's some sheep fencing that runs along side my backfield which i taped off straight away. I would be the one with the plank of a horse that would get their feet caught in it lol!!

Do we make having horses more difficult than it needs to be..???

I had this conversation with someone recently. In short yes I think a lot of people could simplify how they kept their horses even if it was for a short while to get them through a tough patch rather than selling on. I am lucky I rent a yard and have it to myself, even luckier to have...
