Thanks for your replies, will give all the suggestions a try!
Unfortunately due to the timing restraint yesterday it probably wasn't done the correct way and not enough time was given to him. He was then so exhausted and stressed we had to admit defeat which wasn't the best thing to do but...
Thank you both for your replies! It's reassuring to hear you have had similar problems and overcome them, I came away yesterday feeling like I had a horse I'd never be able to take off the yard but in reflection I think the methods used and the fact we were on a time restraint yesterday just...
What was everyone doing with their 2 year olds?
Henry has just turned 2 last month and so far is as good as gold and so laid back. At the moment he's competent in pretty much all the basics including in the following -
Leading/tied up
Bitted
Walks in hand
Farrier/vet
Bathed/general...
Hi everyone, just after some opinions on whether you would still be feeding a balancer to a youngster during the Spring/Summer months? Or will he be getting everything he needs from the grass?
Bit of background info - he is 10 1/2 months old, Shire x TB colt currently living out 24/7 and...
Thankyou for replying! :) I'm not sure if it is lice, that was my first thought but ever since I've got him I always keep an eye out and have a good look through his coat everytime I groom and have never spotted any! He only seems to be itchy in the scabby areas as well, not all over...
The...
Hi guys, just wondering if this is anything I should be concerned about.... I've had my 7 month old colt for just over a month now and noticed some dry scabby bald patches in between his back legs at the top last week which were very itchy ( he was lifting his leg up with top lip right out when...
My horse lives out 24/7 and really don't see a difference, we have a tying up area that everyone uses, stabled or grass livery and a communal tack room, so it makes no difference! If your about to ride in bad weather anyway it shouldn't make a difference whether you tack up in the stable or not...
Hi guys,
I've recently bought a 6 month old colt, shire x tb currently standing at about 14hh (huge i know!!) and is expected to make about 17.2. I was originally advised by a feed company to feed a balancer due to the native in him and it being lower calorie so bought grow 'n' win... Problem...
When I used to work at a livery yard, if be expected to full muck out around 5/6 horses in the morning - that included washing water buckets, doing haynets etc as well then the afternoon was spent making haynets, poo picking, grooming, brushing yard etc. everything was done to a very high...
I am in the exact same situation as you... I've just bought my first horse (and a baby one at that!) and have had all the same 'what ifs' as you, I still have sleepless night worrying now, but I am very much a worrier in general! I've wanted a horse for as long as I can remember and know I can...
Thanks for the replies, pet plan came out at about 30 per month and they required a mortality cert as well which I wasn't planning on doing. KBIS have quoted 25 which is the cheapest I've found so far (bar e and l) so probably going to go with them as have heard lots of good reviews! I'm not...
All I want the insurance for is vets fees and I guess third party? To be honest I'm not exactly sure what I will need for a foal that's not going to be doing much but the main ones seem to be vets fees, third party and personal accident? I won't be showing him or anything like that.
Thank you for your reply! No I don't think I will go with e and l as have heard some really bad reviews about them never paying out etc and what's the point of even having them insured if your going to incur those types of problems?!
The second cheapest have actually been KBIS and they seem...
