    Best event saddle not monoflap

Have checked out Fairfax today, really look good, cant decide between jump or the xc original which has cut back under panels to allow more shoulder room even though mono as looks like might do the job, both are adjustable. Not cheap but seem quality. Also the new K2 is adjustable now so thats...

    Best event saddle not monoflap

Thanks all, budget limited as have two horses due to one now unable to event but who still needs his saddle!!. Have seen a K2 which looked lovely but seems not very adjustable and as horses with ID blood can carry on growing we definately need something we can adjust. Happy to look at 2nd hand...

    Best event saddle not monoflap

Having been happily eventing in a monoflap event saddle we are now gutted to find our growing ISH (who now has wide ID shoulders) is now the wrong shape for a mono or close contact and needs a traditional style. Daughter only 5'4" and wants as forward cut as possible as horse 16.2hh with quite...

My horse struggles to keep his cool outside. Is he scared?

Our newest boy was quite a lot sharper when we brought him home than we expected him to be, both in stable, on ground and and being ridden. Calmer chaff and a small dose daily of magnitude calmer worked wonders and gave him time to settle without being stressed. We still feed the chaff as he is...

Is my boy ready for cross country?

We bought horse at the end of March this year who had done very little (one small UA ode), did two xc schooling sessions and then 2 BE80s in May then up to BE90 for rest of season. He coped extremely well and got a Badminton grassroots regional qualificational for next year. I would say go for it.

    Commercial lorry repairs

As we need some bits and pieces of bodywork tidying and some welding on lorry we are now looking for a commercial repairer who will do a good job but wont rip us off. Does anyone have any recommendations for repairer, based in South Gloucestershire but happy to take lorry reasonable distance...

Wheel clamp, Hitch lock or both?

The actual hitch will have a lock with a barrell lock, you hitch up as normal then lock using key provided, so effectively you are locking trailer to car so it cant be unhitched.

Wheel clamp, Hitch lock or both?

Have both, can be chained and lifted with just hitchlock. We were also advised to keep trailer ball hitch locked on car when at events and even travelling if you will be stopping. We bought a trailer new and dealer told us he had been meeting one buyer at services and was only feet away talking...

    Eventing during the week....

Most Pro would have to ride HC at 90 level. From my experience there are only a small number of events that run 90 classes on weekdays and they may not necesarily be local to you, most are run at the weekend. Where events run say on Friday the classes tend to be at a higher level, presumably...

Working full time, full livery and riding at weekends

We moved horse to full livery when rider went to University. Close enough to get back to ride at least once a week and more in holidays. Livery do fab job, horse is happy and kept and really fit so rider can continue eventing; only downside is its more difficult to sort out any issues so try to...

    speeding up xc

We have ISH who is producing good dressage, clear sj and brave and honest xc but rider has had issues with time. 0.8 time penalties at 1 event then told over 30 seconds too slow at next even though she really pushed on and horse sped round (really wish i had timed as we were sure wrong and did...

    Is my budget realistic?

Even with winter approaching your budget appears unreasonable, sane, genuine, without major quirks and with ability to go to the level you want will be much more unless you are incredibly lucky.

Staying overnight at a show - wheelbarrows

We used to take wheelbarrow to camp, secured at front of trailer with bungies, the poop scoop then sat in behind, it never moved.

    Current horse prices...

Indeed we saw one when looking a stunning imported Dutch warmblood dressage horse that had been reschooled for eventing, it was so hot and spooky it took two laps of enormous arena to stop after a jump!!
