The parts came from different suppliers - mainly eBay but some local.
I think the total cost was under £200 but obviously involved quite a bit of time and effort.
In theory, the system should be able to be used for an hour or two a day for a week or more without the solar panel adding anything...
Last winter I installed a single 50W LED floodlight in our 40x20m arena. It's OK for flatwork but not jumping which is what was required.
The technical bit: the floodlight (mains) is supplied by a 12V to 230V inverter running off a 90AH leisure battery topped up by a 50W solar panel through a...
I had a very good look at them before I decided to buy. I have a good understanding of materials and mechanical design and actually liked the unusual features of these stirrups.
But, as with most things, time will tell!
The foot plate does not pivot. Although the two 'arms' are separate the bolt holds them very firmly and the stirrup leather is through both pieces keeping them together.
I agree with the above. I'm a novice rider and did my first 2-phase event at the weekend. Felt very stable throughout - much better than 'standard' stirrups and a reasonable price too.
Perhaps this would suit you? A 7 year old jumping jumping clear at 90cm in an eventer challenge.

You are allowed to contribute a reasonable amount towards the upkeep of a horse.

Well I was 65 in March and started riding in August. Currently having two, one-hour lessons a week. My instructor says I'm progressing pretty well.
The equine world is very new to me - no-one in the family has had anything to do with horses so the learning curve is rather steep.
Hoping to get...
Yes, generally the first half of December. Remember it's multiple layers you need. The merino base layer items are worth the extra - especially in January.
Some of the gloves are very good value and don't forget about a helmet - nearly everyone wears one now.
Have you had any lessons? Where...
Hi
I'd like to join this discussion as I'm male and a rank beginner.
I also fit into the 'mature' category - I'm semi-retired. Thought I'd start riding to keep fit for skiing and other activities. And you have to spend your state pension on something.
Have been riding for 10 weeks, with...
