    Canter help!

I haven't tried her out hacking - she's only with me a short time but before the show, i'll school her on grass to see if that will help. It doesn't help that the school i use is so small, i much prefer open spaces. Glad im not the only one! I'll try figure of 8s tonight as that has helped in...

    Canter help!

Hi I have a novice section B pony to school and show and i've only ever ridden and shown the Ds - im finding the not having very much in front quite a shock! The walk and trot has come on a treat but i'm finding canter difficult, it's the initial strike off and maintaining it. Any tips...

Sold & parting on Saturday...How do I cope?

I have my reasons for selling and trust me, it's not been easy at all. I love showing and sadly he's not forward enough for me and he deserves a more fun loving home, where he gets a variety of everything. I've had such fun with him, he's a bombproof hack and his new owner will be keeping him...

Sold & parting on Saturday...How do I cope?

Hi all After much pondering, I one of my Welsh Cobs up for and he's been bought by a fantastic family, who will have him as part of the family - couldn't have wished for a better match tbh. He's 7 and I've owned him since he was 10 months old and known him since he was 5 months. I just...

    Competition - need a confidence boost . . . .

I get the same feelings but I do flat showing. Fine once I'm on board and the go around but get the jitters in the line up waiting to do my individual. When it's been really bad, I've had a Kopparberg and a chill pill. Got RW next week! Glad it's a judge riding, that's if we are kept in...

    Am I being cruel?

I've had him scoped and there were ulcers present, stage II glandular ulcers. Also found his for sale ad from last summer, which stated he suffers from these.

    Am I being cruel?

Thank you for your reply. He's in a very small paddock, wont eat hay but eats haylage, has fast fibre with his gastriaid in. He's had his back done twice as I initially thought he issues were to do with his back then googled his name and previous owner's name and saw his for sale ad from last...

    Am I being cruel?

I did think of Abler granules tbh. I think he was staved then pumped as he's obese and has behaviour problems. Total gent to deal with but if he sees tack, them he freezes and his tongue curls up. I just lunge and loose school him to keep him going, he also gets turned out in a paddock but...

    Am I being cruel?

Bought a gorgeous Sec D gelding in May, his previous owner didn't disclose that he suffers from gastric ulcers. I have two other Ds and this one was meant to be fun, it's turning into a nightmare. The cost of everything from scoping and having to treat him differently is taking it's toll on...

    Gastric Ulcers / Re-starting help

Yes, agree with everything you've said be_positive. I just wish she had been honest with me. I spoke to Brightwells and there's nothing they can do. I haven't the heart to sell him on so I'll be trying my best to find out what's up with him. He's very fat and has really small pony size...

    Gastric Ulcers / Re-starting help

Hi all Basically, bought a stunning 7yr old Sec D gelding at the cob sales last month, had been ridden the last two summers then turned out from sept-may Total gent in everyway so very happy and encouraging. Let him settle for a couple of days, then did some lunging etc, walking in hand...

    Re-starting

Thanks. Yes it makes sense. I'm currently doing lots of ground work with him & he's just so good about everything so I don't want to rush him and set us back. I suppose I just find him a bit nervous about the saddle & the initial getting on so I'm taking a few steps back.

    Re-starting

Okay, so bought another sec d gelding at the cob sales, not much info given but so far hasn't put a foot wrong. Was broken in last year then turned away from September to May. Since I've had him (just over 2 weeks) I've had his back done & he's been shod, also had my native pony saddle...
