My mare recently had a nasty abcess which the farrier had to cut away quite a lot of the hoof. Had been poulticing for 3/4 weeks and was still draining! Farrier recommended using sugar and iodine mixed into a paste - packed in and bandaged, really worked well and helped to harden the foot...

I have them and love them! I dont wear mine to the yard because I dont want to trash them. My mum wears hers to the yard and has ridden in them and said they are ok! I previously had Dubarrys and didnt like the look of any of the cheaper types.

I have been poulticing my mares abscess with a sugardine (Sugar and iodine) paste and reading up on this people have said it is good for bringing our bruises.... Might be worth a try
