Abscesses and stinking foot

Any top tips for effective treatments for abscesses..vet been and let it...been hot treating and pout icing and still it stinks and pus cmng out...vet revisiting Tomis...dunno whether to turn out or not

I would keep doing what you are doing, hand walk if safe and dry under foot. But all the gunk just needs to come out I would say 5 - 7 days xx

Tx it's been almost 2 weeks so well see what vet says ...he a TB so very fine and dramatic in all ways...watch this space?..

I wrap up super well, tape to waterproof etc and then turn out. As long as he isn't crippled then it will help the foot to drain.

Smother the abcess pocket in Magnoplasm and wrap up. Magnoplasm is a drawing agent and with help suck all the gunk out of the hole.

My mare recently had a nasty abcess which the farrier had to cut away quite a lot of the hoof.

Had been poulticing for 3/4 weeks and was still draining!

Farrier recommended using sugar and iodine mixed into a paste - packed in and bandaged, really worked well and helped to harden the foot surrounding nicely as well

Can be a bit messy but worked well!

I'd poultice it with a hoof boot over the top and turn out unless the horse is crippled. The movement will help the abcess to drain.
