    Endurance- tell me everything!

Pippixox, you certainly don't need any special tack for endurance. As you climb higher up the levels (which you may or may not want to) then you might want to look into getting a saddle designed more specifically for endurance, but as long as your saddle is a good fit for your horse - and for...

    Anybody competing barefoot?

Competing barefoot is certainly possible. As an example, at the end of July there was an 80km (50 miles in a day) Endurance Ride in Cirencester. Of the 12 starters, 3 were completely barefoot. 9 horses successfully completed the event, including all 3 barefoot horses, who came 2nd (in a...

    Cirencester report

Hi EW. Yes, I definitely did buy a photo as a memento! If you look at the AGC Website, Got to Saturday Photos, Coming Home, Page 3 and photos at the bottom of that page F4D6673 and 4 (grey Arab, red bridle, orange tabard, stupid grin on rider's face) that's me and superstar Miri. Same horse...

    Cirencester Park Endurance Ride

Well done Sprig. Not bad at all for your very first ride! You very quickly get to learn what speed your horse is best at and how to manage him/her best to achieve the highest possible grade - and you've obviously picked up some valid pointers already! In case you weren't aware - the photos...

    Cirencester report

Well done you! You never know, it's definitely possible you could be doing an 80km this time next year!!! (Provisionally, though, the Cirencester ride will be earlier next year on 5/6/7th June). My boy Miri would have been one of the numerous grey Arabs you saw. We were successful in the 80km...

Amersham Area - Missing Staffy - Please keep your eyes peeled

I hope you don't mind me posting this link on here, but I've been (and am) one of the people who have volunteered to help search for this poor little mite. Some of you might already know that Tripp is missing, as he belongs to a farrier. Please, if you're in Amersham area, please, please keep...

Anyone riding after a hip replacement?

I know at least 3 people who ride regularly having had one (or both) hips replaced (one of them is the lady who PIP2 mentions above, who rides at FEI/international level). Also have a couple of friends who have had hip resurfacing done - again with good results and improved riding comfort!

    Barefoot horse feeling hard ground?

I would first of all be looking at the grass as well. After months of having none, it's now coming through thick and fast. The high sugar content will have an effect on any horse's deet - it's just way more noticeable on a barefoot horse. Can't advise on the individual case as I don't know...

Which length in Bates/Wintec webbers stirrup leathers?? And are they good?

Personally I love them! Nowadays I really notice the bulk of the double thickness leather if I ever ride in "normal" stirrup leathers. With Webbers, that bulk simply isn't there. I've never noticed any damage done to my saddles (got them on 3 different saddles/horses). I am 5'10 1/2 and use...
