The issue is the gypsy camp, where these ponies originate from, sits adjacent to the show ground site. So once these are dealt with, I have no doubt that more will appear. It's a very unfortunate, endless cycle. I know the site very well and understand the problems they do, and will continue, to...
When buying a hunter, or even buying a youngster that you would like to hunt, what do you look for conformation wise? Are there any conformation deal breakers for a horse that will have a hard job? Equally, is there anything you specifically look for?
I must admit I do not know much about...
I don't know specifically about the Wheatland but with every pack I've hunted with there has always been a way round a jump, and there is always at least 1 person who isn't jumping who you can buddy up with.
Relax, and go out and enjoy yourself!
My horse lived out all winter fully clipped including face. As long as they're suitably rugged and adequately fed there is absolutely no reason they can't. I know some yards insist on people bringing in over winter but I think if you can let them live out do - they're much happier and healthier...
There is nothing factual about information provided by the LACS. They are ANTI HUNTING, not a neutral group, and therefore will post biased, extreme and inaccurate information to promote their cause.
As discussed throughout this thread, it's not called cubbing it's called Autumn Hunting.
I...
And I'm sure there are loads of fox cubs round at this time of year! Hmmmm.
Why don't you take your scaremongering elsewhere? You're obviously completely ill-informed - you're spouting the rubbish that is peddled by antis to make the general public (who know nothing of hunting) think it's this...
My horse is in hard work and will soon be hunting/competing at least once a week over the winter. He's ridden at least 4 times a week so is fit. The problem is when we're hunting or doing lots of heavy/strenuous work, he tends to lack stamina, or at least get tired easily. He's fed ab lib hay...
Our hunt stipulate that to hunt with them you have to be a member, I think it's because they offer a good Public Liability insurance policy to members, but I'm not entirely sure.
I found a waterford really useful for my big ID because he couldn't lean on it to tank off and it also meant he had to balance himself. I use a waterford for day to day riding.
I hunt him in a pelham with 2 reins because he gets strong on fast runs, so I can just tug the second rein lightly to...
We buy it from our local feed merchants but they sell Charnwood's linseed, I think you can buy Charnwood's online.
We've used it on a variety of horses with great results and didn't find it heating. I really rate it and will continue to use it over winter this year for all mine.
