    Calming bars???

 After attending a large local show, it was recommended by a judge that I should try calming bars for my horse! She does get a bit exciteable and I was really pleased that she didn't rear or buck him off  but I am thinking it might be a good idea, certainly for showing and...

When is a horse 'too old' to work....

What a great question!!! Everyone has given great advice too. The oldest horse I heard of was 51, someone posted me on facebk. I think a lot of horses retire too early and maybe work will increase the appetite to allow weight gain. I agree that, like people, retirement age depends on your job...

Shocking new video on horse slaughter

Oh that's shameful eh? Some people are unaware that this sort of thing goes on so it can only be a good thing that you remind us! Sometimes people need to remember that we know you think you've seen it all but some of us have not x :D

    Rollkur and hyperflexion!!!

And sorry trendybraincell if I insinuated rudeness but some of us are not on this too regularly and maybe we should be .... I would never say that all top riders are doing this either and I used to work in a Grand Prix dressage yard in Germany so it's not all German riders either  I...

    Rollkur and hyperflexion!!!

Thank you guys was actually deeply hurt by first reaction to my post thinking .... oh no everyones gotten used to this!!! But I have been reassured that there are some others that feel you can never bring up these horrific subjects too often as it promotes awareness if nothing else! :) I...

Horse owners who purchased/took on elder horses?

I recently recieved a link about a 51 year old horse, we should remember this when thinking of retiring healthy 15yr olds! My good friend also competes her 24yr old at Prix St George level dressage x

Probably done to death but condition without energy please!

Spillers do a slow release competition mix for excitable competition horses, I use it when fully fit but use cool mix when in less work. You can also add magnesium to your feed but only works if horse deficient in magnesium x

How much does the presentation of a horse affect your opinion when viewing?

What colour is your horse? A mucky grey can remind somone that they may have to tackle stable stains lol! I would think it can depend on their financial value too although my horse was under weight and a bit scurfy when I bought her but her paces were worth the extra pennies x
