Hi. It’s me. I’m the irresponsible owner today.
Was meeting our friend and her springer for a walk today - say hello, let the cocker off his lead to say hi (they’re his favourites) and like an absolute loon he instead does a 180 and sprints 100m to say hi to a dog we don’t know - that I had...
They’re just a set of bells you can hang on your door (fancier options possibly also available), and if you ring them before going out, and then encourage a touch and open the door when they do - can be used to help give dogs a clear way of saying ‘let me out please!’. Better guidance and actual...
Strict alarms during the day every hour, and after doing anything (and/or a house line so she’s never just popping under the table) and a 2am alarm for night trips that you can gradually move later until she’s going through the night. Going with them and big praise for going outside, etc.
For...
My cocker gets yeasty ears on some foods - changing him back to a food I know he’s fine on clears it up alongside a course of cleaning and drops. I’ve also found that having him on nutripaws prebiotic has helped his intermittent general itchiness and anal glands too. I don’t think I’m just...
100% this - in fact I was trying to find similar just a couple of weeks ago as I would much prefer to support and follow an eventer. But I would definitely need it to be the kind of cost the big racing clubs are - rather than £100s a month. I wouldn’t mind a monthly fee, just not a big ‘un.
I used to hack to Tweseldown all the time 20-25-ish years ago (either to the actual course, or hacking over the MOD land). But only from Albany Farm (which is now I believe built over from Zebon Copse expanding). I’m pretty sure we also used to do it from Dogmersfield near the Queen’s Head too...
And I 100% agree with this. Always ready to go - but equally, if you teach an off switch - mine does sleep for most of the day, just if I’m doing something, he’s trying to join in. If you want to do stuff with them and train new and silly things in minutes, and your life to probably revolve...
It’s a fair assessment tbh. (Although, I would say mine cares intensely - did you drop something!? Let me get it for you! Fast! Are you going to fall? I’m so worried I’m going to jump on you! Have you lost something? I’ll find it! Fast! Was that the faint sniff of a forgotten tennis ball? Let me...
I have a (working type) cocker. He is the best. He is needy, alert, far too smart for his own good, somehow both soft and very opinionated, been called ‘relatively calm for a cocker’, but I spent the first few years of his life just trying to keep the lid on and sometimes still do, enthusiastic...
I’m in London and some of my dog walker/daycare/sitter’s pricing is:
£42 walk and all day daycare
£22 1 hour solo walk
£18 sitting per hour, min. 3 hours
£20 1 hour puppy visit
They obviously involve much shorter journeys than you mention.
