    Colic surgery = pts?

Poor you - never an easy descision. My boy underwent surgery for colic just over two years ago now, brought on by pain caused by hoof abcess. The initial op went fine and his recovery was uneventful, however the vet called at 7:30am the next morning to say he had relapsed and would need...

    Hoof gels

For all of you out there who use Equi-Pak hoof gels - where do you get them and how much do you pay? I use Equi-Pak CS @ £31 a tube (!) but at least I have a sound horse. If you use any other product - how does it compare? Thanks for your feed back.

Help - walking hearth rug is lame.......

Thank you everyone for responding :) Mercer & Hughes have a practice in Stansted too so I will book and take her along. I used to use them for flu and tet (neddies) but fortunately have not had to take the current mutt to anyone apart from reg jabs/fleas/nicked artery - general easy doggy...

Help - walking hearth rug is lame.......

Our golden retriever (9 years-old) is walking and trotting up lame on her off-fore. I can't find any injury/heat/painful spots anywhere. The vet has prescribed painkillers/ anti-inflams, which she has been taking for over a week now with no change to her lameness. The vet has advised to x-ray...

Is it time to just say he is never going to do what I want?

We had a horse who had a lovely jump but lost confidence if he was slightly wrong into any type of combination. We found by loose jumping him over all sorts of distances and heights really helped as he was able to learn and correct himself without relying on a rider, and lets face it, not many...

    Trailblazers SJ Final 2011

We went to the first champs several years ago and took one horse; we enjoyed it very much but it cost us ~£300 which was a lot then. The prizes were a bit of a let down [then] considering how much the entries were - not sure if this has changed now. There was a competitor from the Isle of Mann...

    COUGHING! :(

Agree with all above - in the meantime change bedding, check hay etc. Good luck. Don't let the vet fob you off with an inhaler - just change your stable management to be as dust free as possible.

    V Stupid Question

Hi SM - you have described One Phase. In Two Phase you have to have gone clear over the first section of the course and then carry on, if the bell rings, you do niot do the jump off. In One Phase you jump the first section and go on and jump the second section regardless of knock downs. Two...

Where have the Olympic XC tickets gone??!!

Didn't get anything :( Not sure about putting the XC at Windsor but a new equestrian SJ/XC/Dress/Drivng/Vaulting etc etc venue entirely, north Kent/south Essex/ Herts/Home Counties would have been a legacy for equestrians for a long, long time. Shame this opportunity has gone for good :(

Elton Hall, P'boro - Fitzwilliam PC ODE

We used to do the novice course in PC at Elton Hall in the 1990's and it took no prisioners then! The ground was very undulating and looked like it had been medaeival strip farmed. However, the jumps were solid and rider-scarers and it was'nt a course I would use to introduce a horse to cross...

    Competition napping/confidence issues

Its very difficult when this happens in the ring and can soon become a habit. Try to think where it usually happens; going away from the collection ring/past the entrance for instance, and try to be ready for it, carry a whip in the hand he is likely to nap to. If he naps before jumping a...

    Sick of being Ripped Off

That seems a bit steep - Cliff Barnsby have quoted me £198 for a new tree and re-flock. I just have to pay the P&P. Go back to her and query the price - re-flocking should be well under £100 even with travel added.
