Your 'swear by' grooming products and potions

I just recently discovered Ringcraft Sno-White shampoo, and I now will not wash with the anything else. Blue or purple products tend to turn my grey blue, but this simply whitens and cleans, and isn't overly expensive. Other than that, I'm a big fan of hot towelling. A good body brush never...

Adding shine after shampooing a dark bay

Another vote for feeding micronised linseed! Works wonders. Hot clothing works brilliantly, Showsheen for final touches on the hindquarters, neck and shoulders. Then use a soft cloth or towel to bring the shine out.

You know you're an equestrian when...

So glad I'm not the only one! Also do this with dog leads, handbags and anything else with a small rope thing attached!

what the heck is wrong with some folk?

Since they've already gotten another livery to leave, sounds to me like they've got some kind of power complex going on and they think they can decide who goes and who stays. To me it seems like they've got a tight knit little group between the two of them and don't want anyone else involved...

    Best turnout rugs?

Shires all the way. Last forever and sizes are accurate and fit well. I had a Shires Storm breaker on my horse the last two winters, not a bit of wear on it at all. They don't break the bank too much either for the quality they are in my opinion. Also have a Tempest and love it, pony always dry...

What does 'work ethic' in a horse mean to you?

This is tricky. I suppose most, probably all, horses would rather graze and muck about in the field if left to their own devices rather than work. That said, my own horse enjoys her work and really gets into the swing of it, however we do have the odd day where she basically just says, "oh god...

New pony owner since December recent feet problem. First time.

I had a very similar problem with my mare, when I first got her. However I knew for a fact she was just being bold about it; one day she just decided she didn't want to pick up her hooves anymore. Any of her hooves. She wouldn't kick like your pony, but she would try to run through and rear up...

    Swelling and anaemia?

Funnily enough, and I'm only now remembering because you said it, but the vet themselves did suggest this. But when I described my worming programme to them they didn't think it that likely. But it is still a possibility I suppose; she's never actually had any foecal worm counts or anything...

    Swelling and anaemia?

Thanks so much for your input. Yes I do agree that they do seem to be clutching at straws - even the Y/O, who recommended this vet to me, thinks this is far fetched. Fair enough she is anaemic, but it seems like a strange conclusion to reach. But I did want to give the benefit of the doubt. I...

    Swelling and anaemia?

I was just wondering if any of you have and experience with anaemic horses, and whether anaemia can cause swollen joints and lameness? This might sound like an odd question, but my 6yo mare was just diagnosed with anaemia after a blood test, which the vet believes is the result of a bad...
