I use the emerald grass nuts. It says on the bag they can be fed dry, part soaked or fully soaked. I usually just wet them down for 5 mins and then feed but I have fed them dry as treats, in a snack ball and from the bucket as he has never come to any harm :)
the more he gets used to it the cleaner he will become. I just have to make sure when I go away the person covering me lays out his stable in exactly the same way :) He is now very particular about his layout!

I have a 16hh Gelding that loves just fuss and attention and someone to play with ;). Unfortunately he is not rideable and I can only afford to keep 1 horse. So at the moment I am the opposite to you. I have a full stable and no horse to ride :(
