Hi,
I have just purchased a skewbald mare who has a bit of a white bum. I have taken her out a few times in the lorry and she tends to get quite messy. I am slightly dreading competing as I don't really want the task of unloading her and washing her bum every outing. Does anyone know if I can...
My horse came in this morning with an overreach cut on the bottom of his right front heel. He's not lame but the cut is quite deep and has created a flap. I have clean the wound with salt water but should I clean it with hibiscrub? As it's quite strong even when I diluted. I am going to wrap it...
Oh okay, we'll I hope that his knee gets better! The vet did look at my horses as she came out for another reason but also told me to keep an eye on it like you. I just thought that the stumbling for mine was because he has really long legs and maybe his feet are to heavy for him at times.
The vet I use for my horse is Lambourn Equine which are well priced and good however they maybe a little far out for you.
I recently got my new horse stage 5 vetted which cost around £250 and they took a blood test anyway so it was included in the price:) I'm sorry I this doesn't help.
Like everyone else say it depends on the horse and your ability. I have backed and trained a youngster when i was 15 and my current horse is a 6yo that knows very little but I was lucky as with my first youngster I had constant help and advise by my trainer. Are you able to get access to help...
My thoroughbred gets the same thing in his right front knee. While I've had him the top inside of the leg and knee has swollen slightly however he hasn't been lame yet although he did come in slightly sore the other week but trotted up fine. I suspected it was because there is a new horse in his...
Hi, a few days ago I noticed that my horse has a slight swelling under the knee on his front right leg which i kept an eye on however, his legs has recently been stocking up so I thought that it may have been this. I then schooled him and when i got off I cold hosed it as it didn't go down with...
Hey, I was in a similar position a few weeks ago. I've just brought my first horse on Sunday and he's just what I want. I have been riding since I was young just like you and was looking for a fine type (light ISH or TB) as I too am not keen on cob types. Plus I am quite tall. Also I have had a...
Passport- we are currently getting our new horse's passport changed over to my name. We got the owner to fill in a bill of sale when we brought the horse which can be used to change the ownership but you can also get a form that you can fill out to change the ownership and just use that...
It's so exciting! I just got my new horse on Sunday and we viewed him the week before. He was the first horse that I looked at and he is perfect!
My criteria was:
16hh+
Gelding
4-6yo
Has to have done basics but not too much
Eventing potential
Finer breed (TB or lightweight ISH)
My nails are a wreck!
I've recently got my new horse and before him my nails were really nice and strong/had a nice length as I wasn't riding, but now after about 4 days of having him my nails are awful. They keep breaking and catching as they are half splitting forcing me to then cut them. I...
Well the vet is coming back anyway in 3-4 weeks time and to see If his hindquarters have built up through the exercise that I am doing with him. However, he is quite muscly in front and in his shoulder so I'm guessing that it's just because he's been under worked :)
Hey, I've just brought a 16.3 TB and he had the vet out the other day and she said that his right hind quarter is sore and that he has dropped on one side (of his hind quarter). Could anyone explain what this means? And I take it exercise and working up his muscles will correct/improve this...
