Another one here who can only use a close contact show saddle type.
Rubbish to ride in but it never moves an inch.
I am aware that there’s not much too it so always try and use a sheepskin and gel pad to protect her back if I can.
Would love a normal saddle but made to measure seems to be...
Ah I really hope it drops out! I was reluctant to hand originally as it wasn’t bothering her and I didn’t want to cause her pain but now it’s annoying and bleeding so it needs to go either way!
Can they normally still be worked with a sarcoid banded and how long do they take to drop off?!
Hopefully this works!
The picture of it looking raw is current. The hair is wet around it as I’ve hibiscrubbed some of the scabs away.
The other picture is of it before the skin came off.
It’s also bleeding. It was seen by a vet around 6w ago when it was in the nicer photo who said to...
I am a GSD person through and through.
I am limited to two though and have to have two matchy shepherds which leaves no room for number 3. I couldn’t have a shep and a second breed as they wouldn’t ‘go’ 😄
I love leonbergers and would go for one of those if I could have hypothetical...
I had a thorn pad and hated it.
It slipped as badly as the saddle and there was a lot of pressure over the wither area of the pony when the pad was in place. So tight you couldn’t get a hand under it. Despite being so tight it was impossible to mount from the ground as it would end up...
Is the copper sulphate a powder or liquid? How do you apply it?
Mine has two small sarcoids, one occult and one modular and I’ve tried all of the usual things (including vets and banding!) but nothing’s got rid of them.
I’ve also tried tried treating them systemically which did nothing at...
Thanks everyone.
I think I will bow out of this thread now as it seems to have descened into an adult riding a pony/ terminology thread. Perhaps I have not explained myself well enough and I often call her a horse regardless of her size.
I am 5foot tall and 46kg. She is a large tank of a native...
Thank you all.
The new instructor is based away so it’s a case of boxing up and heading there. He is £50/hour which obviously isn’t terrible but by the time I’ve factored in diesel etc it is working out expensive. I do agree I need more lessons though.
No instructors have ridden the...
Actually among the list of things that have been reccomended by various well meaning friends and also professionals (including more than one judge)
Draw reins
Pessoa
Side reins
Pelham or Wilkie snaffle
Flash strap
Spurs
Harbridge or standing martingale
Remouthing with side reins in the stable...
Thank you again everyone.
She can bend nicely, leg yields in walk trot and canter. I have also spent a lot of time building her up through hacking, hill work and plenty of trot. She can manage gates etc and is responsive enough to the leg to be able to manoeuvre through most things.
She...
Sorry it has taken me forever to come back to this post. I have read all the replies and appreciate all advice.
The horse really is a stubborn type. She is opinionated and I do think a lot of the problem is her attitude. I had lessons from an experienced dressage coach and judge for nearly two...
As in round into a nice outline.
Sorry I will try and keep this as short as I can.
8 year old mare. Always been mouthy since bitting with a professional. Fave trick is to throw head as high as possible, tongue over bit and tank off. Had bit consultant and settled on a happy tongue with no...
