If he were mine he'd be getting soaked hay and either topspec antilam or bailey's lo-cal rather than a bucket feed, works out very cost effective as a bag will last upwards of 40 days depending on the size of pony. Alternativley you could just give some D&H equibites just so you get the vits and...
It's fine!! don't worry, some show cobs are clipped all year round due to the heavy coat they have, and you really wouldn't notice, it'll soon grow back!!
The things I have used to get meds in over the years are:
Sugarbeet - the proper old fashioned stuff.
Warm bran mash with huge dollop of molasses
Stud mix - due to the smaller bits making it palatable.
TBH if he were mine he'd be twitched and syringed....
I had a fleece rug but it was such an odd shape!! and it came down to my cob's knees....it's now a dog bed lol!!
Loved the padded headcollars at £1.99 each - I bought a few and theyr'e still going strong...
Does make me laugh to see people wheeling trolley loads out and seeing it all end...
My cob needs shoes too, pottery and reluctant without them, forward going and full of it with!! yet I also have a TBx who doesn't need them at all despite the fact we are on flint - work that out!!
Just to stick and oar in the "high fibre" argument, bran is actually only around 12% fibre - that's lower than high fibre cubes that are around 20% and Hi-fi which is around 35%.......
I keep a small bag in the feed room for if I have a sick horse, I'm old fashioned like that!! A warm bran mash can often tempt a horse to eat if it's off it's usual food and I have found it helpful in the past with a mare who was prone to episodes of colic, my vet, who's also old fashioned was...
No way - wouldn't touch one with a barge pole. I had one I had to get rid of beacause of it.
It's a miserable disease and we are a midgey area, TBH if I hadn't have been able to sell the pony (was fully disclosed) I would have had her PTS.
This post isn't a dig at anyone, and is a fictional account of people I have come across over the years - so leave THE button alone please!
The know it all:
Around 20 or so years of age, this one knows all there is to know about everything!! They've been there, done that, and got...
How odd!! I'd try the other saddlers if I were you. We now charge for hat fitting as so many people were getting fitted then buying off the net, which is very unfair when shops have to find cover to send staff on training courses, and it ends up costing us a fortune for very little return. Our...
Nah!! I find that once tacked up it doesn't look as bad!! Mine's an utter sod to clip and we have allsorts of interesting variations of traditional clips, I can never get near his ears or head so he's fluffy there at the mo, and my lines are dodgy as he fidgets about so much! No one has ever...
Poor photos, I like to see a conformation shot and an action shot of the horse moving - I hate pics of the horse standing in a field grazing, a head shot over a door, or people doing silly tricks - it doesn't take a mo to get a couple of decent pics does it??
Another thing that puts me off is...
