Hi
We will be moving to near melton mowbray in early december and I'm looking for DIY livery. We're not sure where exactly we'll be living/renting yet, but hoping to be somewhere within 10 miles radius of melton mowbray.
Many thanks for suggestions!
after having dental issues with my mare, i came across Chris Pearce. Needless to say, no problem since

definitely worth a phone call, and in my case trekking my horses on a 10hr return trip to see him.
Filling the cavity all the way!! Chris Pearce at barn equine near Southampton has been trialling this with great results. Anything to save a tooth and to prevent the removal of a tooth has to be worth a try. I was mis guided and advised that my horse needed 2 teeth removed. They pulled one...
have you tried cartrophen? My horse has spavins that we couldn't "get on top of".. but tried cartrophen and that has been a revelation. I think that I worked better than joint injections as being i.m. targets all joints. I doubt the hocks will be the only problem due to compensation over the...
Yes... But as salt. I have double her daily intake of salt. After a few years ago and warm weather a few horses became stiff. Fed salt and they were fine.
Don't forget they will be sweating in the field in warm weather but any breeze will keep them "dry" so you may not notice it.
I have put a...
No leflynn that's wrong. A claim runs from 12 months of you starting the claim, this makes no difference if you do not renew. Read your terms and conditions, if any doubt, ring current company and ask.
I have done this, started a new policy with new company with ongoing claim. It's a common...
I'm also interested in the replies to this.
Billy- any reason for monthly injections and not the usual 4 x weekly injections, repeating when needed, hopefully 6-12 months
Maybe speak to your vet, they may let you borrow the practice gag for a few hours to do it, so you can see/feel what your doing. I'm not sure stringing would work if you can't get the syringe in the right place without getting your arm chomped off!
thanks for those ideas- seems there are some less messy options, although I have soaked the capsules in water today and was able to mashy them up and fish out the "shell".
I'm going to supplement as an experiment as she has virtually no grass through the winter and possibly may be either...
there is a low level of vit E in linseed, which I guess is why when you feed an oil you increase the vit E level as an antioxidant.
10mg tocopherol only = 15 IU (from what I can find)
Talk to me about vitamin E.
I have recently (6 wks) changed to a high fibre diet (alfa, kwikbeet, linseed, bailey local balancer). With the weather she gets limited turnout, and what turnout there is, is in a field that has been sacrificed (= trashed). NRC says 400iu/day requirement, which...
I don't think it matters. I decide by the lining of the rugs (prefer nylon against horse, especially when moulting), size of the rug and mostly by which rug I prefer to get dirty from stable or mud.
