Hello
I have an almost 3 year old - my first youngster, He is generally quite laid back and has taken most things in his stride so far. Happy to tie up, feet trims, groomed, led, goes over poles, tarp etc. Worn saddle and bridle.
I take him out on walks around village and through woods a couple...
Hello all
I am thinking of making a round pen - not sure whether to use pallets, electric tape and plastic posts, possible sheep hurdles or something else. It would be used for ground work initially and eventually to back a youngster so would like to be able to alter the size and possibly move...
Hello All
A good friend will be having an op shortly and will be unable to ride for approx 3 months. She is hoping to be able to do groundwork during her recovery time and I am looking for recommendations please for any good books - she is an experienced rider and does low level dressage and...
Thanks for your reply. Yes I would prefer some younger playmates but one does play a fair amount and they have 15 acres of varied terrain with a stream, trees, hedges, logs, a large field shelter, treat balls and a horse ball so he has plenty of entertainment.
Hello
I have recently bought my first youngster. He has just turned two. He lives out 24/7 in a small herd of mature natives ( he is a native).
He leads. ties up, happy to be brushed, feet picked out, rugs - I just do everything I do with the others as far as general day to day care and...
We are a small club and we have found the most popular classes are " have a go showing" were cantering is not required and the judge gives each entry friendly feedback on how to improve and ROR classes - both in hand and ridden. Mini trec obstacles/handy pony ( in hand and ridden) has also...
So sorry. Had to say good bye to my darling in August at 33. It is so hard but the last act of kindness you can do for them.
Perhaps keep some mane and tail - thinking of you.
I use a cavesson and eggbut snaffle. Have not got anything else! A lot use them at my RC for dressage. My boy gets "chompy" when stressed which he is sometimes during a test or other random times as he is quite stressy.
Hello All
I have just bought my first youngster ( had adult horses for 30 years). He is a 19 month old native from a stud and has been well handled. Leads, ties up, been to a couple of shows, picks feet up, worn a rug etc.
He will live out with my small herd of adult ponies. Just wanted a few...
So sorry for your loss. I lost my beloved first pony 22.5 years ago after 22 years together - had owned his since I was 10 and he was my absolute world. It does get easier but it takes a long time - prob 2 years for me. Being able to pts to save them suffering is the last act of love you can...
Thanks everyone for your sound advice. Thinking of buying unseen is mad, the potential lack of height is a big concern and I will not take it further. Thank you making me see sense!
Not sure if you can still get them but 20 years ago I used to feed by elderly pony Super barley rings - soaked to a mash and really helped his weight. The other thing is grass. My current elderly chap is holding weight well this year as I still have a lot of grass which still is very green and...
Thank you everyone for your replies - much appreciated. I am leaning towards a two year old . I now need to find him!!! I am very keen to get particular breeding lines which may narrow the field quite a bit but I will keep you updated.
Hello everyone - Happy New Year.
I am interested in getting a youngster ( weanling - 2 years). Ideally a Section D . I need to be as prepared as possible so this may be the first of many posts...
I have had horses for 40 years but always adult horses. I have my own seven acre field with...
Hi
I am attending a small show this weekend and wondered in light of the sad passing of the Queen whether I should wear a black armband? Does anyone know?
Thanks
