    Salary

I was just wondering what the pay for a head groom is these days? Also what perks are included e.g livery, lessons. It will be by the books so would be interesting to know if the rates are cash in hand etc to see how it varies with tax etc taken off

    A plea to bridle manufacturers...

Definitely agree. Was recently looking for a plain bridle. Wanted a raised cavesson but not wide. Everything in the budget range was just huge and made my horses face look awful. Plus they were so thick they didn't mould to his face and had a massive gap atthe side. CCouldn't agree more with the...

Those of you who weight your hay/haylage...

My 15hh cob is out at grass all the time and gets 10lb of haylage s night. 16.2 ISH gets grass all day then 15lb hay at night in his stAble. 17hh ID gets between 8 and 10lb hay a night and in the morning.

'Ride it like you stole it'

Definitely need to know your horse though. One of mine you have to ride like that otherwise he can get dangerous when napping. But the other, you put too much leg on when they nap and suddenly they think there really is something to be scared off and gets into a HUGE state. End up just having to...

    trailer training companies

Thank you. I just went on price for booking my training. However, I'm now looking for a different company to do a booster type session with. I think I'll just ask to do an assessment lesson as a lot seem to offer that then I get a feel for how they're going to be teaching. Thanks again.

    trailer training companies

Am in Kent. Can travel to sussex way if need be. Can anyone recommend a company that will do the trailer training for the B&E test? Good instructors, get your money out of it, help you where you need help. Good pass rate and just recommended without breaking the bank. I probably only need...

    Trailer test - reversing

Got the going backwards in the straight line. IT's as soon as the cone disappears from view - I seem to panic that I'll hit it, turn left too much so that the trailer comes to the right and end up near enough hitting it anyway. Think I've just got to straighten up and go back on an angle a...

Why is this reduced from £149???

So true. I cannot find a hat with a peak to fit my shape of head. I've only ever found one style scull cap that fits my shape head. Also, I once had a hat that fitted, had it years, was hurting - went to get it checked, thinking they'd take some padding out - turns out my head had grown and I...

Why is this reduced from £149???

I googled hat standards - EN 1384 is the minimum - when have BS infront we know it's been approved by Britain. It says if it has been approved in other European countries it can often be a hat that would not have been approved by Britain. I can't understand why reputable horse companies are not...

Why is this reduced from £149???

I went onto robinsons and equestrian clearence to compare prices etc. but one thing that stands out is the make. Therefore as said above - was it ever worth more? Also, I don't know if it's changed now but I know my hat conforms to both PAS 015:1998 and B.S.E.N:1384:1997, and it only conforms to...

    Trailer test - reversing

For those that struggled with reversing how did you get your head around it. I spent last night drawing the cones and my route breaking it down andsaying it aloud. I want the trailer to turn left so I need to turn right. Once it's starting to turn I need to turn the steering wheel to the left. I...

    Trailer test - reversing

Brilliant. Thanks. Video on reversing is really useful. Can get an idea for where it needs to be and what I'm aiming for

    Trailer test - reversing

When doing the trailer test, are you allowed to look out the window? I mean, have the window down and peer your head out the window to see behind? I'm majorly struggling with being able to see the cones despite the mirrors, whereas having a little look out the drivers window would make a...

    DIY

I'm south east, near Surrey/Kent boarder. He would probably do 1 bale of hunters every 4-5days. He is currently on deep litter although I would happily go to rubber and shavings. His diet currently consists of a scoop of pony nuts, a scoop of chaff, half a scoop of mix and sugar beat am and...

    DIY

I've been loaning a horse who is DIY and realised how much I love doing the horses morning/evening rather than full livery. I'm considering putting my own horse on DIY and am wondering if people could give me an idea of costs. What does the DIY livery include? What do you have to pay...
