We have a now 7yo stallion and his second testicle didn't descend until he was nearly three. He now has two totally normal, evenly sized testicles and no problems. Nature will decide when it happens to your boy.
Our stallion threw a whopping splint in the spring rising 4. He's now 5 gone June and it's almost gone. We used an anti-inflammatory applied to the skin for a couple of weeks but that's all. He was never lame and time is a great healer.
Know what you mean, I like jumping saddles too for leg security. Sue Carson Saddles has just launched a new jump saddle - it's on the website - the Special. Seems like it's forward cut but the tree doesn't impede the shoulder. Might be woth a look.
Wear very heavy duty gloves - the ones from the builder's merchants for handling chemicals and I also use a hand barrier cream called Shebar from the local chemist that has a lot of lanolin in it. Keeps your skin moisturised, the only downside (I don't mind), is it's a bit difficult to wash off...
You do need vitamin E when feeding oil - why not 'phone one of the UK companies that makes a Vit E supplement like Equine Products UK - I've asked them about other supplements and they were really helpful. you can find the 'phone number on the web - and they make all their own products int he...
Have a look at TRM's GNF - it's got clinical research behind it, which most feed supplements haven't, but it isn't a prescription drug, so you can buy it without calling out the vet.
We will be standing both Sir Solstice and Crackenthorpe Sensation at Glenwood Stud again in 2011, but they only go there as walk-in stallions, so we can keep them at home and quietly progress their training. I don't like to hurry youngsters at all - they stay sounder for longer and you get...
One of my friends bred two fillies by Accondy - sold one that had the nicer, although still 'iffy' temperament, but the other is an absolute witch to handle! Bites, kicks the lot!
My better half went to see Accondy for our mare when he was still in Ayrshire and came back and said "definitely...
Sir Solstice is ours and he's by Crackenthorpe F1 out of my 15/16th tb mare who has done everything and is still sound and in work aged 20.
We took Sir Solstice to the Futurity Evaluation at Myerscough in August and he was the highest scoring event horse that day over all the age groups and he...
Sounds like a cartilage injury. I was told that you can have surgery done to flush it all out, but it's expensive and needs quite a long period of box rest afterwards, plus apparently the outcome is as good if you leave nature to do the job, although it does take a very long time -a year or two...
Give her more to do when she's not in her stable, so she's been mentally challenged a bit more and you just might find she's more settled. Check her diet isn't causing any risk of gastric ulcers as the discomfort is well known to cause 'angst' potentially leading to stable vices.
My horses all...
