Does anyone know if they're still standing stallions ?

If so is Celtic Laurus still available? Anyone have any stock / views on him as a stallion??

Found Sir Solstice standing a Glenwood in Northumberland - anyone seen him in the flesh? Would be very interested to hear comments if you have.

I'm thinking of putting my mare back in foal - good temperament in the stallion is very high on the wishlist - she's had 3 fantastic foals by ISH stallions with fab temperaments which came out in the foals and one complete little monkey by a warmbood who thinks horses stand on 2 legs all the time and move by attaching teeth to the nearest soft bit!! (Daddy thinks he's special too!! not my choice - bred for a client)

Looking around just to see - unfortunately my fave boy no longer has danglys - owners spilt up and he got gelded :(

Yes, they are still standing stallions. Not sure what they have at the moment.

If you google the stud name it will give you full details. They have some very sucsessful offspring.

Thanks for that - found their website - just wasn't sure how current it was - you don't seem to hear much about them.

I've seen some of their stock some years ago and although the ones I knew were lovely I had heard some were a bit difficult - more for professional riders which I'm not!!

I have two Crackenthorpe horses a mare by Celtic Laurus and a gelding by Renkum Arturo.
I love them both so very much the have kind willing natures, fab movement and easy to work with and train.
I am thinking of breeding from my mare in the next few years and I will definitely be using a Crackenthorpe Stallion.
I went to view them in the summer. The stallions are very well mannered. I had my son with me (just over 2 yrs old) who proceeded to put his fingers up Formula One’s nose and give his leg a huge hug now how many horses let alone stallion would let a young child do that to them? He was a saint - Formula One that is!
They have a stallion call Crackenthorpe Quality who I love a have a feeling this will be my ladies future husband – he is gorgeous.
There is also Kartier whos daughter Foxy Formula was 2nd at HOYS this year as a small riding horse.
Celtic Laurus and Kentagon are standing at the stud unfortunately not an option for me as father and half brother to my girl.
I’m sure they also said that Rococo was now standing in the south (sorry cant remember where).
Hope this has helped good luck with your breeding.

Sir Solstice belongs to Pam Harrison who runs the affiliated dressage at Blackdyke.
I know she is really pleased with both his temperament and movement. Don't think the original plan was for a stallion, but he turned out so nice she let him keep his bits.

I do know his dam - she was quite successful as a dressage horse and is a tough cookie - she has come back sound from a leg fracture sustained in a field accident.

I have a 5yo by Crackenthorpe Formula one. He isn't everybody's cup of tea! He is very well put together, and brilliant to handle, with alot of character. But he was a nightmare to break in, and still (2 years on) can't handle hacking out or competitions (however small). He is a wimp when it comes to jumping away from home. At home in the arena he is lovely to ride, and can be ridden by novices. I often ride and jump him bareback, and he is good as gold.

He is a very strange horse, he has 2 completly different characters, but seems to have a complete meltdown as soon as he is taken to a place he doesn't know.

Thank you all for your replies - some useful info there! i haven't looked at this in ages- thought it had gone to the forum in the sky :D

Charliemouse - think I've read some of your posts and that might be why I had a funny feeling about F1!! - thank you

Sir Solstice is ours and he's by Crackenthorpe F1 out of my 15/16th tb mare who has done everything and is still sound and in work aged 20.
We took Sir Solstice to the Futurity Evaluation at Myerscough in August and he was the highest scoring event horse that day over all the age groups and he got the only mark of '9' from the Futurity Vet all day - across all the age groups and all the disciplines, which was a big 'wow' for me! The Futurity Assessors gave him '9' for type and build for eventing, '9' for his canter (and gallop) and 8.75 for his trot - he does move more than well enough to produce as a dressage horse. He is incredibly bold and loves to jump, but as the Assessors, said, he is also 'mannerly'. Very dark bay, black in his winter coat he is 16.1 - 16.2hh with 9" of bone and I backed him this autumn without any problem.
We also have Crackenthorpe Sensation, a 5yo stallion by Celtic Laurus of out Crackenthorpe Polly, F1's dam. He's bay, 15.2 - 15.3hh and he really is a gentleman.
They're both at home in Cumbria at present - in the snow, but if you want to come and see them when it's better weather, PM me with your email address.

Thank you so much for getting in touch - I will pm you my email.

How are you doing in the snow? We are really struggling (Co Durham) - in about 3ft and down to minus 15 yesterday morning!! It'll be next year I think before I get out!!

I noticed you had "Sir Solstice" standing at Glenwood last year are you thinking of standing him there again or somewhere else this year?

Many thanks again for all the info- your boys really do sound and look lovely. :)

We will be standing both Sir Solstice and Crackenthorpe Sensation at Glenwood Stud again in 2011, but they only go there as walk-in stallions, so we can keep them at home and quietly progress their training. I don't like to hurry youngsters at all - they stay sounder for longer and you get further in competition - Solstice's dam is still sound and in work aged 20.

I think charliemouse should look at how she has produced her horse before criticizing Formula One – no one else seem to have problems with training his stock. Oh and I see in H & H a couple of weeks ago he is out of retirement and has started eventing. To which so far he was 3rd in his first event, won Richmond and Hexham. I actually saw him at Hexham yesterday he is a perfect gentleman with manners to die for.

HOYS results. Wow Foxy Formula Won and Overall Champion of the Int SRT (breed by Stuart Graves sire Crackenthorpe Kartier (crackenthorpe Formula One's full brother), grand sire Pentagon), 2nd Lochill High Society (breed by John Jacks, Sire Billy the kid, grand sire Pentagon).
