what breed of dog do you own

A standard schnauzer. Syrcée: She's 6 now. Before getting her, I always wanted a rottie. At the time I was living in a flat in Paris so wasn't possible to get such a big dog. My Mum had a standard schnauzer at home when she was little and so suggested it to me as being a medium sized dog...

    Buying from the continent

I have bought a German horse in Belgium for the simple reason that I'm living out here. However the guy who I bought my horse from (and still stable him there) always has good horses for sale, has many contacts in Germany and has clients from the UK who go through him to buy horses. (up to GP...

    Opinions needed

I have my horse Joshua (bay horse in my siggie)who I had to part retire at 10 because of arthritis in both his hocks and back problems. Currently he is at livery in a farm where he is out during the day and in at night. The farmer gives him hay and feed. His is hacked out about twice a week by a...

Bringing a horse from mainland Europe into the UK

I am planning to move back to the UK and so will also be moving my horse from Belgium to the UK. Does any one know what paperwork is required. He is microchipped. He is up to date on his shots (does not have rabies though) He has a passport. I don't think there's any blood work like for dogs...

    Prize choice and nature's menu.

I only feed nature's menu pouches when I'm travelling with my dog in a place where I can't keep any frozen. I agree with you on the grain that dogs don't need it. I feed a barf diet: chicken wings in the morning and prize choice meat and raw fruit and veg at night. I will however on the odd...

    Prize choice and nature's menu.

Yes exactly. 400grams, you get rabbit, lamb, chicken and liver, fish (my don't won't touch it). They also do freeflow minces in larger bags and chunks. I think it's good but just wanted other opinions on the quality of the meat.

    Prize choice and nature's menu.

Do any of you use these for your dogs, which products and what do you think of them? Just asking as I use them quite a bit and was wondering what others thought of them.

    Rant about feed

I was thinking of buying haylage. The thing is that I already give him a bit of D&H pasture mix+D&H fibergy+ pink powder+ soya oil to give him some extra as he was a bit underweight. He has put on a bit more weight and has a really shiny coat and I am worried that If I add haylage on top...

    Rant about feed

I think that it might be a French thing as in most of the yards I've been in it's been pretty much the same thing. Only good thing out of this whole crappy morning (post in soapbox) is that I went and bought two bales of hay and left Walkabout with large pile of hay that he was happily munching...

    Rant about feed

Small hay bales are not that expensive and so will just do that. Just annoys me that stables don't give more. Also seeing all the other horses having nothing to occupy themselves the whole day.

    Rant about feed

Thanks for your message. I think as it is only for 6 months and that the stables are good in every other way I will just buy the extra hay. I do manage to turn out a bit. TBH this morning turned out in small paddock while I was riding bay mare and doing other stuff and every time I went past...

    Rant about feed

Thanks for all your advice Am quite free at the moment (not many hours work) so am spending alot of time at the stables and able to let him out either in the outside school or in small paddock (I forgot there is one but it's quite muddy around the gate) Let him loose today after his work for a...

    Rant about feed

All the horses (liveries and their own) get the same so they consider it the normal amount. they are very stingy as far as food goes. It's infuriating as the horses are on shavings and so have nothing to do all day. We have no Winter turnout as it's so wet over here. I do compensate by letting...

    TREADMILL

I can see why a treadmill would be good in that case, but only if the dog gets proper walks. I would be worried about people just using the treadmill as an excuse not to walk their dogs and then what a miserable life it would be for the dog. TBH I think that people shouldn't get dogs that they...

    Rant about feed

I'm very annoyed. Why is it that people over here don't understand how important it is for horses to have large quantities of forage. Yard where I have Walkabout has good facilities, owner and his wife are very good intructors and I couldn't cope with horse ( who's a youngster )without their...
