I have a 30 year old Connie who was starting to look really really ropey a month or so ago. A friend of mine suggested Global Herbs Old Age Formula to be added to his food along with a gut balancer - instead of changing his whole feeding regime - and it's made the word of difference; he's put...
I have tried to get myself fitter/healthier for eventing over the past two years. I started with an at home fitness DVD (when I was strapped for cash) - 10 minute HIT workouts and worked up to the whole DVD. Now I'm a member of the local gym so I swim and go on the cross trainer/rowing machine...
Keep going as your confidence will grow the more you get to know him but maybe contact a sports psychologist and have some sessions (as some of the top riders are doing, as I see from Simon Grieves eventing blog :D).
I also think the fact you have acknowledged you have a confidence issue is...
What a shame for you :(
I have a 5yo who I bought as a 3yo and is the first horse I have done all myself and I'm definitely with you on the older horses have more baggage... makes me wonder what I've been wasting time doing all these years!!
I'm lucky enough to have a menage at home now but this is relatively new and I definitely feel your pain on this one!!!
Before the menage I used to have to travel to venues which were floodlit at least once a week or once its light enough ride early in the morning sometimes this would be riding...

I use a fitbit HR and I bought my other half a fitibit surge for his birthday last year... they are extremely motivating and we have both lost weight and got much fitter since having them.
I also keep mine on for schooling and competitions if I can and it's...
We've just had a menage built and I honestly don't know how, with a full time job, I used to keep myself motivated and horses fit without it!
I also can't live without my Musto jacket, clippers for fluffy ponies and GIN!!!
Just wondering if anyone has an Eqco bum warmer/quarter sheet and if you would recommend them, especially for schooling sessions? Keep hearing about them but no reviews on their website! TIA
I tend to exercise my event horse 6 days a week during competition season - but I mix things up with lessons, hacking, lunging and putting him on the horse walker to keep the variation and I tend to only jump once a week. I then give him some time off over winter (in the field during the day and...
Aww poor you :( but don't worry it happens to all of us and it just makes you more determined! My first BE90 on my current horse I fell off showjumping and retired due to being in a serious amount of pain and then our first BE100 last year we went clear showjumping and then he cat leapt the...
It depends how intense your course is... mine was pretty much 9-5 every day for 3 years with practical's etc but some of my friends only had a few compulsory lectures a week.
Not to bias your opinion but I sold my event horse before Uni and I have regretted it ever since....
