Hey, thanks for your replies :)
I don't want to stress her out, I think she'd be frantic with a muzzle!
We'll keep to walking where it's relatively dog free, I quite like the wilderness :)
I rehomed my dog when she was 5 1/2, sadly for her she had been mostly kept in a large crate, ill-mannered with people and never socialised with other dogs.
When I took her on, I also took the crate as she had known no different, happy to say she never once went in it at home so that was...
Thank you for the suggestions :)
I do have a lot of patience and time and not expecting very long walks yet. I will give a Gencon lead a go, have ordered one (similar to the canny).
She doesn't even respond to her name! Which may be a blessing as it isn't a good one so I can choose a more...
I have a new friend. She needed rehoming and the timing was right, have had a GSD before so know the breed. She is 5 nearly 6 so not a youngster.
She settled in well, mooched around the house having not had the opportunity to before. She sleeps in a very large cage which is open and her space...
I have just been reading the various threads on here about sycamore. A few years ago we lost Phantom very suddenly (from being off colour to gone in 24 hours) His symptoms are almost the same as I have read. Thinking back, the field was surrounded by sycamores, a brook and woodland. I never knew...
Sometimes the symptoms don't show for a good length of time.
The worst I have seen was when a young girls horse became ill, lost weight and no amount of feed changed that, she just kept dropping. Then she started to walk into things, her head was always low, her coat very poor.
Unfortunately the...
I often used to 'pick up' my daughter on horses. Would go from the stables with a mate, ride two, lead one (5 miles), wait for her outside school, she loved it, showing off to her friends (different pony/horse each time!) We would go home, refresh ponies with a drink then hack back to the yard :)
Can I just say, as someone who goes out with camera, if I spot horses in a field then I'll go over and take photos. Love taking pictures of anything, mostly horses, even though I have my own. Purely for the love of them and photography, nothing else. Mind you, if I see owners/people in the field...
I do wonder if she is 'all there'.
She is like a kid with adhd or something.
She will poke her head under any tape and wind it around her neck, put a hoof through haynets and stand there to be rescued (we don't use them anymore)
Squeeze through any gap that even a small dog couldn't get through...
My daughter called me this afternoon, frantic and panic-stricken. Harmony was stuck knee deep in the muck heap.
Grabbed jacket, grabbed son, chucked on trainers, pelted down to the farm, along the track mud flying (son not impressed with dirty car), Stop to shout at farmer, 'need help!'
Run...
Came here (after Googling) in 2005 after my wonderful TB was bitten by a dog in the hock.
Needed advise, and had some truly lovely support from people here, started a diary for Eric and everyone followed his story for a few months until the day I had to let him go when the infection ravaged his...
May have missed it in the thread, but has anyone contacted the local paper/radio station etc where these people are? (I don't know what area they are in)
