Whitfield is based two minutes outside of West Linton Village and us owned by a friend of mine.
ELJ Equestrian is about 20 minutes away on the way south to Biggar
Thornton, Lea Farm, Kirkettle and Pammy Stevenson’s are North East into Midlothian
Swanston (my current yard) is about 25 minutes...
Our indoor is similar size - does a job in the winter but I do minimal canter in it - with a 17:1 ISH with a massive stride there's just not enough room, regardless of how well balanced she is.
I do find it good for the lateral stuff, being so small you have to be creative and accurate with...
I keep every single one and write on the back where is was won, scores, dates etc. I am such a sentimental person.
In the first year I had her they were above my bed, but then I moved and the majority are still in a bag on top of my wardrobe (because there are so blimmin many now!).
It's...
I will always spend my entry fee again, if not more, on good pictures. I am a sucker for cataloguing or adventures with piles of photos!
I've got a few decent ones over the year from the Orange and Black Scottish photographer named in here, but I find the wait times put me off - especially...
Mid Kinleith - DIY
West Kinleith - DIY
East Kinleith - DIY
Swanston is about 10 mins from Currie and is DIY. This is where I am. We have grass livery all year round. There may be quite a substantial waiting list though.
You also have Morton Mains and Meadowhead just off the bypass at...
Again, kept it deathly quiet because I’m a massive wuss but me and my super mare completed our first ever one day event. Only 4 years late but y’know… can’t rush things ?
Unafilliated, dizzying heights of 50cm again. Was a excitable unrideable tw*t in the dressage for a 38.
2 poles down in the...
I kept this quiet as I was absolutely bricking it- but we toddled off to our first ever Hunter Trial at Foresterseat yesterday. Entered the dizzying heights of 50cm, but it included a scary wall with a little drop which was just giving me utter nightmares for irrational reasons. We arrived and...
I don't think there's any issue for bitting up for jumping if it helps - my mare is not in the least bit strong and I will happily hack her in a headcollar regularly and she schools in a basic fulmer snaffle - if we're jumping she wears a NS Universal Turtle Top, as she likes it and goes well in...
So after Skye's funny turn on Wednesday, she did a complete 360 on the Thursday and by the Friday was her normal self, if not slightly better than normal. Vet hadn't written off still competing and left it to how I thought she felt. My coach came out to teach me, and said just put her in the...
Supposed to be at Petplans Saturday and then a wee additional bonus fun outing on Sunday... but Skye has a touch of gassy colic so we might be grounded.
Blimmin grass. Thought I was doing so well with her management too!
I would say you need to supplement the injections with Sucralfate for the hind gut - I re-treat my mare from time to time if she gets a bit stuffy, and I wouldn't give omeprazole without Sucralfate.
Didn't die out XC schooling. Even managed no stops and no falls!
Had an SJ lesson with David Gatherer las week and he spent some time with me on the very basics - my job vs. her job. My job is to get her in a suitable canter and point her at the correct jump, her job is to jump said jump...
