    Insuring a Veteran

Hi, my veteran is also 30 and as far as I am aware, they dont insure after 30, even for accidental. I could be wrong but when I looked into it, the veteran policies are 16-30 which is a real shame!

How many owners has your horse had?

I was my ponys 4th owner at just 6! I had to then sell him, to his 5th owners, then 6th and 7th and then I bought him back and I am now his 8th owner and will most definatly be the last, been there, done that, never again, he's here for good now! He's a bit of a tricky one as even though he's...

    LIE OF THE LAND

No you're probably right, however it does shock people who dont realise. I once saw on the front of the farmers guardian once a picture of 2 round baled hay made to look like a person and the farmer had spray painted 'How much do you pay for a litre of milk? I get 12.5p' this was at the side of...

    LIE OF THE LAND

Understand where you are coming from completely, but dont you feel that it needs to be a bit more widely known just how little farmers get for milk? We had to give up dairy farming in around 1999 i think but its still very close to my heart and miss it terribly (dont know why!) I got the...

    Sharing advice please!

I feel bad on the girl as she really likes him and shes fine grooming him etc im just concerend that if he ends up with yet another in-experienced person, he will just hate work again. Its like her friend came with her, and in walk he always drops his head really nice and light, but then it kept...

    Sharing advice please!

Well he is a fun pony! Hes just a right character and one that just goes better for an experienced person! Im sure there will be someone out there who would like him even though he is only a 14.2, as i said hes quite sturdy so can carry a small adult with ease.

    Sharing advice please!

Thanks for the replies. Jack is a character and i know him well and know what works best for him. He spent sometime at a riding school and it has had some lasting effect on his attitude to work and the minute someone in-experienced gets on him and rides (dont want to sound horrble here) novicey...

Straw bed users- money saving tip!

Ive just moved mine on to straw from shavings (trying to save money!) and i found i was taking sooo much wet out on a daily basis. I muck out for someone who does the shavings and straw combination and i always find it great to do, so put a sprinkle of shavings down each day and its great, i...

    Sharing advice please!

Ive been thinking of part loaning/sharing my pony for a while now. Someone who was looking for livery came down the other day and after a chat said they would bring their daughter to ride him. I was a bit apprehensive as i was wanting someone experienced, something she isnt. Anyway they have...

lethargic horse or just being lazy?

My pony can be very lazy but when a more experienced rider than me gets on him, they really get behind him and drive him on (with voice mainly) he then works properly and in a lovely natural outline and it looks much easier for him than his usual resisting when he moves like a donkey haha not...
