    Northumberland livery yards

I'm looking to move yards and have my name down on some waiting lists but nothing seems to be moving at present and I wondered if there are any yards i have not thought of. I have quite a list of requirements, which I know narrows it down quite a bit but I would appreciate any suggestions. What...

    Bitting a very mouthy TB

I'm following this with interest, thanks OP. My new ex-racer is older (just turned 10) but had over 3 years off. When bridled he chinks the bit constantly and does this also when ridden. He is quite spooky so I wonder if some of this is anxiety. He is very 'yawy' sometimes but can work quite...

How to introduce new horse to elderly herd

This may not be practical but can you fence off an area for the new horse to go into for 7-10 days so that all the squealing can be done at a distance? You also have to accept that there may be a few shennanigans when the newbie actually goes into the field but if they have had the chance to...

    battery powered stable fans

I read a post recently about someone installing a fan in their stable because the pony was really struggling with the heat. My TB is out overnight but comes in during the day for about 8 hours and the barn can be really airless when its hot like this weekend. It is a yard rule that if out at...

Any advice : small cut on hock, field injury

You will probably get lots of help from people here but as you're going to be paying a vets bill, I would be ringing them back and asking the same questions. My personal opinions on your questions - No to lunging. I'm a bit unclear as you say the vet said keep him in overnight - do you mean...

Have I ran out of options for my dog?

apologies I haven't read through the 5 pages of replies but as the owner of a reactive rescue lurcher (who is fabulous at home) I feel your pain. You mentioned that you had tried BAT with her but have you tried CARE? Are you on the Reactive Dogs fb group? Its a big and knowledgeable group with...

    First time diy livery. Eek!

welcome to diy world - you will not regret it! Due to working full time I am on assisted diy which means my horse is currently turned out in the morning and then brought in during the afternoon. I am not there in the morning so he doesn't get mucked out before he comes back in. No harm is done...

    Older horse with loose manure

Hi I did start to have this problem with my old boy. I started giving him Nettex gut balancer and then changed to Feedmark Biopro and this helped. I'm not sure why a vet would recommend straight oats to an oldie, and bran I think has been proven to have very little nutritional value. I fed alot...

newbie to sarcoids - fly repellants and rugs

So is it ok to put fly repellant actually on the sarcoid? I have been using the Leovet Phaser gel but just putting it all around the sarcoid but not on it. It is dry at the moment and I don't want to aggravate it.

newbie to sarcoids - fly repellants and rugs

He is only out during the day at the moment for about 6 hours. It's not a problem yet, I'm just trying to plan ahead. In the better weather I aim to have him out overnight and he would be in from 7am until 7pm.

newbie to sarcoids - fly repellants and rugs

I've been following the sarcoid threads recently with interest and would appreciate some advice, hints and tips. Apologies this may be a bit long-winded. I bought my TB gelding in January. He has a small sarcoid (I believe its nodular but it could be verrucous, it is 2 very small round lumps...

    talking about ticks

It is my understanding that treatments for fleas won't actually affect ticks and certainly won't prevent them from attaching regardless of what they claim. This has also been my experience. I remove them using listerine on a cotton wool pad.
