Haha yeah i accidentally entered the wrong title, so i had to edit it.
It's not that i'm trying to build up muscle in her neck but it's building up anyways so i want to make sure it's at least the correct muscle!
I'll work on building her top line up though! Thank you.
Hiya i think this is in the right place but correct me if i'm wrong!
Had my mare for a little over 6 months and i've been training to get her fit. I lunge her a lot with nothing more than a head collar and a lunge line. I have never seen a use for a roller/side reins etc if the horse is going...
Hi thanks so much for your post it worried me a little but i read up and she doesn't really have any of the signs of it. Her back legs don't majorly collapse, it's almost like her back legs trip/shuffle almost like when you stumble and catch yourself it's kind of like that.
I'll get my vet...
She does have very low heels!! I'm certain it's not thrush, have looked at her having that before and i've recently had my farrier up and he would've said something as well, but will double check tomorrow.
5bs how was that diagnosed? X-rays? It only ever happens in the school and it's a flat...
I've got a 15.1hh 9 year old mare. She's hackney x pacer. She was driven as a youngster and was then backed two years ago. I brought her 6 months ago and she passed a 5 stage vetting.
2 months or so ago every now and then (only when being ridden in the school) her back legs buckle for a...
Hiya, not too sure if this thread is in the right category. I do apologise if it isn't, haha.
I've recently brought a hackney X welsh d mare. She's 8 this year and last year she was backed. She was driver as a youngster and was then used as a broodmare.
Anyways, i've began her schooling...
Have had a look at it being thrush but she has none of the symptoms so have ruled it out really. She isn't lame just a little stiff really. I'll see what the vet says.
I don't want to be a bit of a worrier about it but maybe i should get the vet and farrier up and get some advice and decide then. Thank you all very much :)
I was told that she didn't have very strong feet by her seller and he had only had her front shod as he didn't ride her that often.
I certainly would not follow the crowd. But would you then say never get her backs shod? As it's unfair on her. I do a lot of road work as she doesn't really enjoy...
She's fed on a low sugar high fibre, she's fed spillers cool fibre and spillers lite balancer and has ad lib hay. She doesn't eat much hay.
So how long until i can shoe her as most people up at where i am stabled have told me to get her shod as soon as possible? Thank you all
Hiya, when i got up the stables this morning my mare was quiet badly foot sore. She's not down on her heels yet but her frog is now touching the ground. I'm kicking myself for not evening noticing it before.
She went on a long ride on Sunday and so i gave her the day off yesterday thinking...
His breedings aparently make him a Grade A stallion and so she won't risk putting him at a stud yard with other colts incase he gets booted in the knees and does damage.
I'm overly panicking as he is now reaching through his fencing just to eat grass. Thank you all so much for your help i'll...
That's exactly what i'm worried about. The yard owner is bothered at all about anything to do with the yard we are all left to get on with it. Which up until now hasn't ever been a problem. I worry because he seems too much of a horse for them to handle, don't get me wrong i know pretty much...
