Do you leave fly masks on at night?

My boy keeps his on 24/7, just removed to check on it usually twice a day and obviously for riding. I think vision is slightly reduced but not much and this probably depends what sort you have, I have a Prem Equine from a few years back and with the standard "how well can I see through it...

Combined ages of you and your mount?

44 - First time this year I'd been eligible for the geriatric jumping class at our local show, remember my mum competing 20 years ago and winning a special prize for the oldest combined age of horse and rider at 71 :)

    Riding hats and jacket length!

I completely agree the old fashion style looked so much better! The hats I can understand the change, I much preferred the look of my slimmer line first hat from many moons ago however I appreciate the technology now and that if my head hits the dirt my brain should survive in tact and that...

What size is your horse in his outfits?!

16.3hh Dutch Warmblood, very long neck and large head but short coupled at 6'6''. Saddle medium width, Full or large in most everything else except head collar which is XL and over reach boots which he needs to wear two pairs of 24/7 and these are XXL. I find you generally find one or two...

    Overenthusiastic or odd?

I think just overenthusiastic and smitten with a pony she gets to ride (and hopefully) care for on her riding days. I'm with FfionWinnie in that lots of exercise is brilliant for him especially if prone to laminitis or developing a bit of a tummy, granted not flat out high energy constantly if...

Livery yard situation: Who can buy in their own hay/haylage?

I'm on DIY and at our yard we have to buy hay and straw from the yard (£5.50 hay, £3.50 straw) but are free to source haylage or alternative bedding elsewhere and have space to store smallish amounts.

What are people paying for DIY?

I pay £140 pcm in Oxfordshire for stable (but can have 24/7 turn out all year round), small indoor school, jumping paddock in the Summer and the main selling point, fantastic hacking. All hay/straw has to be bought from the yard and rug changes and bringing in and turning out are extra as is...

    DO hoof supplements really work?

I use NAF Biotin plus for my warmblood, it's not one of the very expensive ones but has done wonders for his feet which were pretty terrible when I bought him.

Places to try on long riding boots?

Hello, New member here although like many I suspect, a long term reader of the forum whenever I have a horsey problem that others have come across and had solved before. My question today is that I want to get some new riding boots as I've recently started competing by boy again but really...
