Out of interest, will diesel price put you off competing, camps etc ?

We’ve just come back from camp in Stow on the Wold, from Durham- main factor for going to camp was to drop off a carriage that I sold (to pay for camp!) in Northampton on the way, so it made it worth the while but I recon that it has cost £160 in fuel for the towing vehicle, and that is a...

2 year old filly being a big %%**

Thanks all, food for thought which is what I was looking for! She has come in today (again double handed, between two handlers) but significantly quieter, more back to her usual chilled self and had a fuss and gone back out happily. For clarity, the herd are a real mix- there are a few geldings...

Thank you, two cracked ribs and internal bruising, but he’s been lucky, I know.

2 year old filly being a big %%**

Honestly, simply just because she has said ‘no’ and got her way by escalating for the last week or so, I figured bringing her in for a couple of carrots and a groom for five mins daily would mean that it was standard again for when we need to for farrier/vet etc.

2 year old filly being a big %%**

She’s not yet properly bitted as she’s just rising 2- vet thinks late foal but hard to tell as she was rescued at foot and the mare PTS instantly. But yes- I had just started bitting and walking out before this kicked off- was thinking of picking it up again so this might be the way forward...

    Oh- she’s currently 15.2.

2 year old filly being a big %%**

My rising two year old filly is in a herd where the existing mares are aged or keep out of her way and the geldings all back off from her. This situation has been evolving over a few months, but over the winter she’s happily come to the gate, come in without silly drama and generally been fine-...

In hand showing a 2 year old

My standardbred has just met a bit and will be going out in a bridle- she’s the same age but 15.1 already and is bold and curious… and she can walk twice as fast as me when she’s powering on 😂😂 I will be using a three way coupling, two to the bit and an extra strap to the noseband that takes...

    Donating horse to science

I knew of one donated to Dick Vet in Edinburgh but he had to be transported there and PTS on site. He had a major tendon issue but was fine to trailer with painkillers on board. Sorry to hear about your news, it’s a crappy disease 😢

    Best headtorch?

    Lovely, thanks all!

    Best headtorch?

Hi all! Looking for a new headtorch, that gives me ideally low-ish level option for seeing where I’m going to and from the field, and a high beam type option for scanning said 7 acres to find a horse in the dark 🤣 Any decent not bank breaking options? Points for rechargeable and not batteries.

    Knowing when it’s time

Mine was happy, but not holding weight and bloods had no answers, there was a distinct probability of EODTH (I think that’s the initials!!) and a few other niggles- including a tendon injury. Either way, I wasn’t happy rugging him right up as he would have needed, causing sores around his bony...

Judges expectations at winter Shetland show

Been there- not with Shetties but with youngstock and native youngstock. All hairy. I’d wash manes and tails and legs in as hot water as I can get my hands on mid winter. Buy a well fitting set of snuggy hoods summer bug bodies- usually on sale about now. Including the Body and head/neck...

All change- baby trotter has arrived

We’ll never know- they said the field was full of everything, colts, stallions, mares, foals and all sizes from pony to 16.3. Poor girl 😢

All change- baby trotter has arrived

Thanks all! I do feel that she landed just when I needed her. She’s very like my homebred- he was 1/4 trotter, just as chill and with a similar ‘it’s all about me’ attitude 😂 This was her advert- I couldn’t not call! https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1Beak6csq3/?mibextid=wwXIfr
