My old pairs pony had his last summer this year- the first that he has had of many where he needed no muzzle, had no lami, and no severe restrictions. Two weeks before he was PTS, an advert popped up on FB from the local RSPCA with something totally different to my plethora of dun ponies, that sounded like she would make a lovely Ride and Drive… and I called… and she arrived a week after Pepe left us.
Unknown breeding but mostly square trotter (she doesn’t pace), who came in as a foal at foot with a rescue case involving a lot of horses last autumn.
She’s brave, generally chilled, has enough attitude to keep me thinking and has instantly taken her place as temporary beta mare in an established herd
I say temporary, as the Alpha mare, my filly and I all know that’s the case, but I’d like to to stay there for a couple of years ideally!
She was Duchess, she’s now Tilly Trotter/TillyFilly/SillyTilly depending on her mood, and because we’re from Sunderland, at some point, she’ll be driving as ‘Til the end, a nod to my Dad and his football love… and because I like the sound of ‘and here’s Katastrophy, riding TIL the end’ when I inevitably lose one of my remaining brain cells in a few years time and enter her in some SJ classes!
She has a chill mode and a turbo mode, the second is rarely seen but I’m hoping that she’ll make a safe, sane all rounder for me and my ever growing 9 year old who is all legs now and about 5’ already.
So here’s Tilly!

And on her first walk off the yard last night

The cows required a hard stare, and the change in road surface was worth a look but she was very brave indeed, and very well behaved.
