    More revelations on AHAR

Yes its great grazing for rehab actually as its the same as I have here in Wales. The worst grass you could put a rehab case that has been starved is on good cow pasture or lush grazing. It is far better to be a good rough lay with sedge which is the thicker grass and a number of natural...

    More revelations on AHAR

Instead of all being up in arms about this post why don't you all use your energies to try and get change in Ireland to the appalling welfare crisis that they face. Why don't you start lobbying the Irish Parliament to try and do something about the appalling equine, then we all might be...

Am I going mad? What's wrong with this picture (video)?

Agree he is very stiff behind but what I also notice is that he seem to have a lot of problems up in his poll area and top half of his neck. See how he carries his head to one side and also every time he goes to stretch down he jerks his head back so I would suggest that this is another area...

    Coffin bone fractures

Get a good equine vet! Farriers are not allowed to diagnose or treat!! I could be more conditions than your vet has said. Why didn't he open up the foot? You need xrays to see if its fractured and why no pain relief??

What were you doing with/ competing your horse in today???

Let them out for 2 hours in my waterlogged home paddock for exercise thats the one with the steep slope as the bottom paddocks are so water logged and semi flooded. Good thing that the yard is 50 feet higher than the bottom paddock and the stable yard slopes. Reason I bought it as got caught...

    Cleaning hunt coat

I use a fairly soft antique one which is brill. To clean my coat I let it dry and then dampen it well. I use a plant spray bottle and then brush off the mud and then let it dry naturally and that way it doesn't raise the knap.

    Hunting on a pony?

I am 5ft 4 and hunt a 14 hand 19 year old connemara pony. He has no trouble staying at the front all day and when is super fit have to hack to meets about 4 miles just to take the edge off him! He is still full of sparkle and we have just as much fun as the bigger horses everyone loves him

Lame... PLEASE look (pics inc) farrier issue?

In my experience of thoroughbreds they often have flat feet and thin soles. They therefore bruise very easily and yes I am afraid that a bad bruise and incorrect trimming can make a horse very lame. Bruises are sub solar heamatomas (blood blisters). The build up of blood within the lamia...

    do horses get cold legs?

Yes! They do get cold legs, it depends on the breed how much. Your hairy cob or native is designed to cope with the cold hence they have hairy legs and grow extra in winter! However, your throughbred does not. They have very little covering on their legs even in winter having being bred for a...
