Stretching before/ after riding human not horse

I do a lot of leg stretches before a ride as thats what gets most sore the next day. But as I tend to tense up while riding I also do upper body stretches. Nothing wild or particularly intense though. Just simple stretches. Putting my foot up on the mounting block to stretch out the legs, maybe...

Stretching before/ after riding human not horse

I always do stretching before and after the lesson or ride. Often IN the lesson I will do stretches while on the horse. No stirrup work is good for stretching the leg length and heel drop, etc. ...and yes, I probably do look a fool stretching before the ride! ;)

UK citizen moving to work in USA

Yes, as others have said, if this is a long term 'permanent' type of position, then there are MANY hoops to jump through, most of which would be showstoppers to the average person. To make this type of international move takes dedication and resilience, much like working in the equine field...

UK citizen moving to work in USA

This website might be of help. Though kind of like HHO you get some different opinions at times! http://immigrationboards.com/viewforum.php?f=24&sid=adc9c917eeac92669ec261b00495897d Also, California is a very different state that the other 49 in legal terms. It has more employee...

Do you think riding will go back to 'traditonal' ?

I agree! One doesn't ski in leather boots on wood skis any more, nor do mountain climbers assault the Eiger in tweed and wool as they did in the Edwardian era. The Equestrian sports are just that ...SPORTS! Like all other sports, we have much better materials and cut/fit in garments and...

    Flying Cob!

Great pictures! I love cobs! ...then again I'm a relative newbie to riding, so a good sturdy cob is fine for me! Fizzy=scary!

    camera reccomendations for horsey photos?

Canon makes good DSLRs so should be fine, but what exactly are you shooting? Horses standing out at grass or action shots of riders in the arena doing jumps? It does make a difference, but mostly in what type of lenses you need.

How many men - come and say hello!

I'm a male and started properly riding as an adult about 18 months ago. Always wanted to ride, and recent developments have now given me the time to take lessons. I've always though horses were quite cool though, even as a kid. But having originally been born in America where riding is an...

Riding with no stirrups (dumb Q)!

At my riding school the instructors always have me stretch my legs by letting them hang down long AND still having the heels down as well. Its more about really letting your legs hang while stretching out your calf muscles. The stirrups feel really short when finishing the lesson - even...

    Male riders advice needed!

As a bloke, I find breeches or jodhs a bit to fussy and 'traditional' looking, though I do own a pair or two. I usually just ride in slim fit jeans and tall boots. No problems at all with that. (But yes, supportive underwear is a must!)

WOW! Going Western riding in the USA, any tips? (not a ranch holiday)

I just did the same in Hawaii last week. Nice trail ride on the beach! Western riding tends to be less 'fussy' than classical. Often on tourist rides, there is no riding 'skills' required. Trail rides where one horse follows the next. Helmets are nearly unheard of as its all cowboy hats or...
