Ah - great, so it wasn't my imagination then.
I feel quite motivated now – more work without stirrups tonight then!
I’ll blame you guys when I can’t walk tomorrow ;-)
Thanks!
I travel 45 mins each way for my regular lessons but can travel up to 3 hours in the summer when eventing. I'm based in Edinburgh and travel down to Cumbria for 3-4 events per season. My others are all 1-2 hours away.
I'm lucky that my horses are both super travellers, however I do make sure...
I have vowed to improve my dressage (currently only prelim level) over the winter so have started to introduce some work without stirrups.
I have noticed that the quality of our canter greatly improves when I have no stirrups. My little TB is extremely on the forehand and runs into (and...
I need some ideas and hopefully support from fellow HHO users!
I am an Edinburgh based amateur event rider who (with my two cheeky horses Corky and Lucas) has been shortlisted to become a Blue Chip sponsored rider for 2016.
I am reaching out to the equestrian community to ask for support...

Thanks to everyone for their help - after a positive mechanics inspection I'm off down south to view the lorry and chat about the living this weekend! All help greatly appreciated.
Very good advice.
The lorry is down South and I'm in Scotland so I'm not able to weigh it with everything inside before I have the living built which is a pain. It has a approx 2 tonne unladen payload - add 2 horses (15hh TB and 16hh WB) me, tack, water & fuel - probably adding up to 1.5 tonne??).
Im looking for some lorry living advice!
Im finally upgrading my lorry from a 3.5t to a 7.5t the living area is empty just now so Im looking for advice on what everyone sees as a necessity for a days eventing and what is nice to have if possible (budget restraints). Lorry will be used...
Well done to you both - what a great achievement and in such horrible conditions!
It must have been a wonderful feeling crossing that finish line knowing you had gone round clear!
Super photos too :-)
I'm definitely in it for the fun - I'm extremely driven and competitive but know the limits of me and my little horse. Neither of us is great at dressage (but are working very hard on it with our instructor). Scores use to be in the 40's, now in the 30's but don't think we'll ever move down to...
I have exactly the same issue - for me it's all about improving the quality of the canter coming into the first jump. We never take a pole once we are ino a grid or combination as the canter is decent by then but it's the initial approach we need to work on. I also tend to anticipate the jump...
Oh yes, I forgot about course photos (I always take my own photos too when I walk the course so I can flick through them on my phone to make sure I don't forget the course/miss out a jump).
