    Feeling guilty for considering shoes

Similar boat. Mine went barefoot 3 years ago. Was doing great until the recent weather. A combination of days of rain and now hard frost has made her sore over rough ground. I might boot but think with the wet and muddy conditions may cause other problems. Shoes on at least for the winter I...

Price to have horse broken in?

I'm looking around now and £250 a week seems average if sent off to include livery.

What was your favourite pony book as a child?

The silver Brumby. I read them all but the first one was my favourite.

    Retirement Livery For Good Doers

I viewed horse haven a couple of years ago when I was due to travel away for work. Took my horse with me in the end but I loved the look and feel of the place. Its very large and diverse, horses looked content and well. Option of just track or field / track combo too. Will be top of my list...

    Livery near Bromyard Herefordshire

I'm moving to Bromyard in the next few months and struggling to find livery. Google and facebook doesnt bring much up at all. Its a rural area so I'm hoping there are yards around. Can anyone advise where to look please.

    Youngster playing or more sinister?

He may be becoming more reactive as he is on individual turnout. A young horse really needs company. I speak from experience as mine was becoming a bit nippy and spooky. He was not on his own but just had my 16yo mare for company. He has never been smacked or pulled around. Think it was nervous...

Group turnout livery options on the Worcs / Herefordshire border?

I've moving to an area with lots of yards around, nearly all seem to offer small paddock, single turnout. I have a rising 3 year old who I'd really like to see out in a group with enough room to run around. When did single turnout become so popular? If anyone can point me the direction of...

    Relocating to Worcester

Thank you, that's really helpful. Not sure where I'll be living yet. It might be easier to find a yard first and move close to that. Work wise I'll need to commute to the hospital 2/3 times a week but I'd like to live outside the centre. Bromyard looks affordable property wise but I dont know...

    Relocating to Worcester

Hello, I'm moving from the isle of man to Worcester. Is it a horsey area? I need to find accommodation for myself but may base that around the horses. I'll need livery for two and good hacking. Any area or yard recommendations gratefully received. It's such a large county, how bad is the...

Fjords and Haflingers - where can I find either?

My friend had a lovely fjord growing up as a kid. I rode her a few times and she was a lovely kind and genuine mare, quite suitable for a novice. As both breeds are rare here I would contact the UK breed societies for advice where to look.

Help Me decide! Do I want a Cob or a Native

There are some fantastic cob's about, natives too. Pick the individual horse not the breed. I've recently become the owner of a lovely highland youngster and at the moment he is sharper than my welsh was at the age ?.

What is the minimum amount of turnout you would accept on a yard?

In the depth of winter my yard only turns out every other day. I'm not keen on it but my horse copes. We do have a horse walker they go on daily. On the non turnout days I make sure she is rode. Summer they can have unrestricted turnout although I bring her in during the day to reduce risk of lami.

Mild moan about yards changing the goal posts !

This I can understand your frustration and would be looking to move if it was me. That's a serious amount of money to be paying out a month. The significantly decreased turnout, and inability to use your own physio would be a deal breaker for me.
