No, why?

I've had my Percheron for c. 5 years, he's now rising 12. Bought him as a happy hack for my husband. After a break from riding due to work commitments I am just bringing back into work with a view to doing fun rides and a bit of dressage with him.

If you were being a purist, for maximum safety and stability you would not tow more than 85% of your vehicle's kerb weight. With many trailers at c. 1,000kg that means you would only have 615kg spare to tow one horse or two small ponies. You are right to be cautious with a pick-up however...
