Breeding History how do you go about it

I bought a part Irish Draft horse before pasports were compulsory and was told the stallions name. I managed to trace her sire through the ID breed society and they were really helpful in giving me details of the sire's previous owners as he never actually passed the inspection stages to be an...

    Still no foal!

Keeping checking those boobs for wax she sounds like she'd not far off. Even if she seems to wax up and it drops off or if it's only on one teat, look for tell tale signs of running her milk and then you know it's on it's way that day. If she's foaled before she will look bigger anyway so keep...

They are like buses - 2 foals in 2 weeks...1 to go and then sleep!

I said I'd let you know when they eventualy arrived and I will get pics on asap. We have a 2 week old 3/4 TB skewbald filly who seems huge and is far too confident for her age. Marius SJ breeding on her dam's side and by Belton Gantaine TB on dad's. Mum had 1 foal before, had a text book birth...

    Thoughts on this youngster

Those knees look sore and if she is struggling to get around carrying only herself she will really struggle at the end of her gestation. I have an expensive lawnmower (14yr old gelding 16.3hh TB) so there's no such choice with him but sentiment and his survival instinct meant we gave him a...

Finally a coloured colt for us!

Wow, he's gorgeous!! We have a 2 week old filly with almost the same markings but she is brown and white and really cheeky and brave already... Hope everything stays ok with them both

    Dead Foal

I'm so sorry it must be awful even though you werent expecting it. I have read that it can help for them to foster a foal as it helps them come to terms with their lost foal and this might help you feel better too. It might be worth contacting the National Foaling Bank (I'm sure that's what...

is she or isnt she with pics? also in NL

I would keep an eye out too, one of ours scanned in foal and up until about 6 weeks ago was still gallopping around looking like she'd had a great winter but not a patch on my other one that is 2 days in front of her. Over the last 6 weeks her belly has gotten BIG and she's bagged up so I'd work...

    Help! Advice needed on foaling...

I agree, I'm not going to sleep anyway so I think that decides it all in for a bit!! I'm going to convert the free stable to a bedroom for a month or so that should be easier... Thanks everyone for the replies and when they arrive I will try to post pics (not v pc literate so dont hold your...

    Help! Advice needed on foaling...

This would be the ideal situation but the boss lady (top dog)can be a real bag some times with the others and I'm worried that she might do some thing horrible to a wobbly foal as she hasnt foaled before so she might not understand - or am I just neurotic?!?

    Help! Advice needed on foaling...

I'm worried about splitting her up from the others because she never took well to being on her own (even when she was eventing) and she wont be able to see them at all in the stable and no friends in at the moment - I think I'm going to have to bring all 3 in but has anyone ever had a problem...

    starting to panic now

It's my first time foaling too but I have buried my head in 2 great books - 1 for first timers (plain simple language) and the other V technical (but helped along by the first!). I am checking mine at the moment because 1 is overdue and was bagging up about 2 and half weeks ago; another has...

    Help! Advice needed on foaling...

Hi sorry not posted for a while and now picking your brains again! I have 3 broodmares - One is 5 days over due and the other 2 are due 14th & 16th May. This is our first time foaling and we tried to do things right; got the foaling box ready well in advance with a little turn out paddock...

    What to do?

From friends experience I'd say stay clear. If you are not 100% confident with a baby even a nice tempered chap can take advantage and end up with issues. He sounds like he has some issues already and if you never really got to the bottom of your older guy it might not be the best thing for you

    Valuation

She looks really cute but I'm no good at valuing ponies, it always amazes me what they fetch! One thing though it seems to be a pretty naff market at the moment for selling so be careful

    How much.......

it does mean that they might not be able to provide proper instructors and be insured though - I'd be worried about using anything other than the real deal. The BHS have the approved schools jumping so many hoops that it can seem daft but accidents will happen with horses whatever and I wouldnt...
