Hello, I am looking for suggestions for a new bit for Poppy, thin loose ring french link snaffle. She is a welsh cob x trad cob, with a biggish tongue hence the thinnner bit thought. She is resisting the D Ring snaffle I currently ride her in, so it has been suggested I try a loose ring...
What I think are the two milk veins under Poppy's tummy, are quite swollen this morning and feel hot, the udder is fine, is this reaction to fly bites? And what can I do to soothe them? Thanks!
Cant think of a better way of phrasing this so here goes!
Poppy is a welsh cob x traditional cob and a good doer. On short grass, with a small haynet in the evening and 4 D & H equibites morning and evening, her weight is stable, although she could lose some quite happily.
I can move her...
I too have a new shelter for Poppy - which only took 6 months for my oh and son to put up having bought it back in February! So posh, but I think OH has an ulterior motive for buying it as it has been put up bang next to the sheep shed, and could safely accommodate several sheep pens at lambing...
We have 3 loose boxes on our livestock farm which my son believes would have potential to let for diy livery. What could we charge, hay could be provided, with possible 24/turnout. Quiet lanes for hacking on the Shropshire herefordshire worcestershire borders.
We have three loose boxes that lie empty for most of the year on our livestock farm, eldest son sees a potential for DIY livery - what could we charge, providing hay and possible 24/7 turnout? Quiet lanes for hacking. And what would DIY ers require? We are on the borders of Herefordshire...
Oh, I am so sorry to read this, Poppy stood so still to allow me to pick them off, as if she knew I was helping her. She didn't flinch as I crawled around her legs, bless her.
off to buy a Bot knife!
I found a smattering of tiny grain like eggs on Poppy's legs last night, I was able to pick them off, and have since read up about the disgusting things! Do the equimax tablets cover Bots, and when is the best time to worm? I normally worm late September / March with them.
Poppy did! When the hay was quite coarse.
QUOTE=Toffee44;12471905]Samba has always done this when eating hay.
Does any one else's horse do it, every one on the yard thinks she's a weirdo!
As title - is it wrong to let them have a mad few minutes on the lunge when you start work? Poppy takes off at a fast trot then a buck and a fart, but the past couple of sessions I have stood my ground and made her halt then move off at a walk if she tanks off,
You should see her face, and she...
And mine, a small area just above the hoof on the hind leg, where the hair is white. Cleaned off the area and it was a little hot and pink, but applied Demolene Aloe Vera gel and it appears to be fine now.
Looking for another replacement hay net, that madam cannot bite holes in!
I bought a trickle net 12 months ago that is now sporting several holes, that I have tried to repair, but worried that she may eat the baler twine used to repair the holes, so purchased a Shires greedy eater net - that...
I had a couple turn up on the Estate where I work, off the footpath, and when I asked them to go back to the path, and pointed out that we had a shoot on so to wander off would be dangerous, was told they had a Right to Roam, and that there was no such word as "trespass" any more. I couldn't...
P's mane is rather scurfy, she is out 24/7, supplemented with hay and a handful of Safe and Sound daily. Is there anything I could give to help clear this up?
