Mine has done exactly the same this year, more swimming pool than a dry, mud free turnout area.
When I first laid it I looked at using Flexiride on top of my stone layer as it wont rot compared to natural products..I may look into this again for next winter, Id rather spend a little more...
Me! I have had many an operation on my knees over the past 7 years. Mostly on the left one but I tore the meniscus in my right knee about 4 years ago. I was squatting down skim reading an article in a magazine I didnt want to buy and it tore as I went to stand. Moral of the story, take a photo...
I was thinking about doing this too as people have said it looks a bit mucky and I'm possibly a little fussy and like things to look clean. Instead though I was going look at adding shavings as a top layer to keep it looking cleaner and a bit more fluffy. It's what I do with my guinea pigs cage...
Sorry for butting in on the thread but do the beds after a while go really dark and look dirty (like shavings can do if you don't keep topping them up) or do they stay nice looking long as you maintain them correctly? I guess the same goes for the smell?
I use wood pellets for my cats...
She's on private land and surrounded by privately owned land, you would hope you could argue the fact that they were trespassing but I doubt that would hold up in court so you have a fair point so like a dangerous dog or beware of the bull sign, a beware of the horse is the way forward?

Brilliantly timed thread as looking to swap from straw to wood pellets but wasn't sure what brand would be best.

Thank you for all the honest replies, it's played on my mind for a long time and been very much like a game of table tennis from should I, shouldnt I. I hate the feeling of playing god with a life that had it not been for a human wanting her to behave in an acceptable domesticated manner, would...
I'm sorry for such a morbid topic but when have you said enough and looked to have a horse put to sleep?
I have had one since she was weaned and is now 13. She has a real nasty streak though, from a yearling she would bolt across the field at me and try to double barrel me. Then in ridden...
Starting a new job soon and timed my commute as I drove past the office the other day.... 6 minutes :D
The plan is to cycle in the summer as I go past my horses summer turnout on the way :)
Used it this winter. I was advised to apply in a rotation of a week on and a week off over a period of 6 weeks (so 3 applications). My guys were only very small and one only needed a week and the others I only did for 2 weeks (one week break between them). I applied using a cotton bud twice a...
I know exactly where you are coming from. I keep penning a whinge forum post to look for advice but never have the guts to post!!
I've got 5 I love very much but life has changed, such as starting a new job (a proper career type job), getting older and wanting a mortgage and I miss doing the...
Been looking at buying these ready for when I start to take my youngster out on the road, and have found some places still stocking them. I may hold fire if I am correct in understanding the overall plan that they will be coming back newer, shinier and better designed?! :)
