I'm most worried about it being a stinking disaster even after 6 months rest but have seen it recommended a few times but not by anyone who did it other than recently 🤷🏻♀️

I use a buff which is basically a light cotton (?) tube as a head scarf under my hat and wash that regularly. I've got the Hygge buffs which were cheaper than the genuine thing and just as good.
