Good morning!
I'm looking to get a decent 50g turnout for my IDx. Mark Todd fit him perfectly and I'm a huge fan but ideally I'd like a 1200D and 50g. Premier equine badly rub his withers and rambo seem to twist.
Any recommendations? Many thanks!
You've mentioned that you get there early to turn out your mare in the mornings, and get there later to bring her in last - how will she feel when this involves leading your mare through the gelding's stable, risking kicks, bites, etc? (To be honest, I wouldn't lead my horse through any other...
Thanks everyone, I think it'll be a waiting game and battle of patience! Took him out yesterday and he sniffed and played in the first horse-eating puddle, then took himself through (why do they do that as soon as you ask for help?!). The second puddle I asked him to go around and the third...
Thanks for the suggestions everyone, I wish it were as easy as giving him a slap or few, he doesn't respond. Flat out refuses, it just makes him more determined.
Does anyone have any thoughts on me getting off and leading through? Does that give in to him do you think? My reasoning is that he is...
My rising 6yo coblet is a very brave, intelligent boy with a good sense of humour...! We have just moved to a new yard, and our hacking has lots of puddles - some of which cover the path.
If left to his own devices (i.e. I hold the buckle, ignore him and have a chat) he will play in the water...
Looking for advice / moral support! :D
We have had our cat for a few years. He is a very good natured boy with people and very settled.
My sister is staying with us at the moment along with her spaniel. She's super calm (not a typical spaniel!), gets on very well with my parents cats who...
I have had my boy in an Isabell Werth for years (maybe 12 or more?). I can't remember which gullet it has in it, probably XW, but it fits him like a glove. He is a 16.1hh flat backed, chunky IDxConnie with a big shoulder (but not big movement). Even with his rather rounded frame I can mount from...
I think you're talking about the Premier Equine hoods - they're tight around the throat and puffy around the neck.
I'd also recommend a headless turnout hood from Snuggy Hoods - that's what we use for our cob with a huge mane, and had no issues.
I have had three Bucas rugs for my chunky, flat backed, wide chested IDxConnie. The two turnout rugs (Smartex and Bucas Select) have fitted him like a dream, never rubbed or slipped, and don't come up like mini skirts despite his ample frame. I don't have the big neck variety. I have found them...
I half halt my boyfriend when we're walking together - to get him to slow down when he's getting ahead of me! Just a little squeeze on the arm to keep him in check! Haha!
I would definitely try to find a share. I have been on both sides (as sharer to other people's horses while at uni (and not allowed to take my boy with me!), and as horse owner with sharer/s) and experienced both good and bad. You're right that there are things that can be frustrating with a...
I got some HorseHealth Hands On Grooming Gloves last year. I didn't know I needed them, but they are now the most used part of my grooming kit! Wonderful for getting into difficult areas, great for bonding, and the best things for bathing too. (No, I don't work for HH!)
Also, a pair of...
Another vote for an Infrared rug - I love mine and use it for half an hour before riding (along with four IR leg wraps). A few brands sell them / versions of them - Rambo Ionic, PE Infrared, BoT, etc.
