We use wooden post and electric rope. It is very windy at ours and the electric tape even with the insulators that clamp it in place were absolutely useless and a waste of money.
The rope has been great though.

Go for it! I was 22 when I joined. The camps are great, you get access to some excellent instructors and riding as part of a team is always good fun. Im on the wrong side of 25 now but had a lot of fun for a few years :)
