Just wondered on opinions on this supplement. Have a dressage mare which can get a bit anxious and be silly mainly when working on her own. Tried calmers to no avail.
I think that maybe using Valarian powder may help, as I believe that long term they buid up a resistence to Sedlin. I have a horse that has been on box rest for 4 months, 2 of those months she was cross tyed. valarian seems to have helped, but it may not work for everyone????
Sorry to hear that, my horse has just finished 4 months box rest after a small fracture. She is sound now and just coming back into work...it will soon go by!
I have a horse with 2 arthritic vertebrae. His symptoms were slightly different, a little resistent to coming on the bit, but mainly stumbling and not happy to go forward. He has had a steroid injection into the spinal cord and has been fine ever since. He is now out on loan 2 years later doing...
Whats your opinion? I have a mare on box rest, now just starting walk work but no turn out. She loves rolling but is getting cast, as she is in due to a small chip fracture I am worried about this.
Have heard that these rollers can be damaging????
Any other ideas?
According to "Horse Herbal" by Hilary Page Self, it is 15 grams of cut root daily. It would be worth reading as there are some cases where it wouldnt be advised to give it ie: mares in foal, and horses with suspected gastric ulcers. hope that helps
If you google Devils Claw herbal supplies you will get plenty of online shops. It is always cheaper to buy from herbal suppliers rather than "equine" herb shops, as long as you know what dosage you need to give.
Thanx, glad all is well with your horse. The decision was taken not to take the chip out surgically with my horse as it was quite large. 6 weeks down the line it is knitting back together, but I think its a long job!
Yes this is what my lovely dressage mare has done, basically its a small chip fracture just below the stifle. Vet says prognosis is very good, but I am not convinced. Anyone had a similar problem?
