It’s at times like this you wish for more hands! I definitely think we’ll overcome it, she’s bright girl, just lacking in life experience. They both live out 24/7 so they are always together except when I take the mother out for rides etc. Kizzy is fine the whole time she’s left alone...
Thank you for the advice, it’s much appreciated. There are about 30 horses in the field(s) I believe but she’s only attached to her mother, they keep to themselves. I’ve already started working her in the field and she’s come along leaps and bounds since, hence why I’m now working her...
Yes I suppose I could. I could also get a trainer in if it comes to that but ideally I’d like to tackle it alone/within my yard. Like I mentioned before it’s a charity organisation as well as a yard so we have protocol etc for bringing people along.
Thanks for the reply! That was the original plan of action but lacking a reliable helper it’s almost impossible. I thought about simply tying mother up and then bringing daughter out to stand tied with her for a short time...I just hope she doesn’t start pinning people to walls again if she...
Thank you for the advice. I’m on a yard with lots of other horsey people but it’s a charity as well so we’re all very busy keeping the organisation running, training some of the residents takes a bad seat. Especially since my ponies are my responsibility but I have one lady who would help...
Hi all! I’m not a first time owner, in fact the following issue is with my third and youngest pony, but maybe someone more knowledgable can give me some advice.
I have two ponies currently. A mother/daughter who were rescues after being left wild for 8 years! Lovely temperaments, can’t...
Putting feelers out for a small livery yard/grazing offering DIY/DIY assisted livery space in Kent. I’m going to be rescuing a New forest pony (mare, late teens?)after Christmas. Livery location preferably in or around Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells.
Recommendations would be very much appreciated!
Sadly I’m down in Kent but thank you, I will definitely keep that in mind. I most likely will volunteer at the local sanctuary when my health allows. Horses is a life long passion after all.
Thank you so much for the supportive words, I really needed that. If I can visit I will but it’s yet to be decided. I’m happy he’ll finally live somewhere that’s less hostile and he’s not overlooked. As long as he is happy in the end that’s all I could ask for.
Quick update for all who asked: thanks so much to all of you for the advice and support. I’m still at the yard and things have deteriorated rapidly in regards to my relationships with the manager and on site trainer there. It’s been very stressful. We had looked into other yards, found a...
We did this today and guess what, it’s exactly as you said. No food and drenched in mud, feet filthy etc. He looks awful since he’s got his winter coat!!
No move as of yet, we’re still trying to find a place that provides what we need, a good environment, not too far and that doesn’t...
Agreed thank you. It turns out I’m paying for little more than a drafty room that’s hardly ever turned down/maintenance, my pony to be treated as unimportant and the YO new puppy. Not ideal. Time to move on I think. Though the hunt for somewhere close, offering full livery that’s...
I’m glad you found somewhere you’re happy with! For me it’s not that simple, between work, parenthood and having one car shared with me and the husband it can limit things- therefore I can only at this current time commit to full or part livery...otherwise I’d love to tuck our boy in...
