Get a book that you keep with your gear for the horse and you can write updates in that. Date, what you did, how the horse went, any other updates, food etc and just check it when you are at the yard. Takes away the need to txt but gives an outlay for questions/answers and what happened with the...
Horses are a very expensive hobby and you should be enjoying yourself. Get a horse that you can have some fun with and make you happy. Life's too short.
Lots of endurance horses don't have shoes only boots. I think if you find the right boots you're away. Diet management is important to having no shoes. The key will be finding out what works for you and your horse.
Take your cues from your horse re road work being too much. He'll soon let you know. Make sure the diet is as sugar free as possible and you should be fine.
Mine happily does min 17miles a week pretty much all on the road / stone tracks
Poor pony and what an awful pushy backward thinking farrier. Goodness I'd never let anyone push me like that. Take the metal things off his feet the concussion from them after having no shoes on must be a real shock especially on all four feet.
Boots are a real good in-between for when the...
Wow pictures are great. I've been thinking about a light blue as well. Can't do two tone as the lines don't match up on my Richardson. Think it'll be grey with teal decor :)
...... any colour you wanted what would you choose?
I'm repainting mine and I've just stumbled across the world of tractor paint and the wonderful array of colours, wow!
I can't believe people paint their trailers such dull colours with tractor paint at their disposal :)
I have some feed in a rubber hanging feed tub which I put on the other partition facing the wrong way so my pony has to walk right up to the breast bar and crane her neck round to her at nuts.
Also I load her half up the ramp while staying at her shoulder, no pulling or getting in her way...
I measured the internal height incorrectly and it's actually over 7ft so feeling a bit happier about that.
Still would love to hear about other peoples restorations
I think mine must be the same as it's 156wide and just over 3m long.
What did you travel in yours? I do have a full breast bar but no full breech bar so would have to get one made.
I'm currently taking the floor out of my trailer which is a 1998 Richardson. It's a double wood floor and only rotted due to water getting in and non-use.
To make sure everything is put back right I've measured every bit and found the internal height to be just over 2metres, does this mean...
Sounds a bit like a load of things added together caused the slipping not the fact you have no shoes on.
My mares hooves have got v hard recently due to no rain and she will slip on one back hoof coming out of her stable when turning at the moment. She doesn't have any shoes on front or...
I too would be cross with the trimmer. Personally I'd never have a bf trimmer do my horses hooves but then I have a fab farrier. Mine doesn't need trimming or hoof adjusting as she does it all herself and sees the farrier every 4-6mths for a check up.
Trust your horse, if they are...
