Think the "rule" is to do fast work every 4 days (to clear lactic acid build up, repair and recovery of muscles...or something along those lines) so if you ODE on Thurs the next allowable fast work day is Sunday, so that's fine.
You will have a fair idea of your horses fitness and how...
I managed to attend last night, all in it was an informative meeting, it answered a number of burning questions and most importantly drew a line in the sand on what has happened in the past with clear ambitions of progressing the sport forward in Scotland.
I echo the thoughts above that the...
I really rate my treehouse event shirt as it makes changing for XC a lot quicker as I just need to take my show jacket and stock pin off then put my BP and number on (saves stripping down to bra to put XC shirt on!)
It looks very smart with dark green and white checks on the sleeves (hat silk...
Good points well made smurf, the fact that there is an incumbent rider rep which I was totally unaware of speaks volumes!! I think the key to being a valuable and effective rider rep is:
- being both visible and approachable
- having the teeth and background to challenge confidently at the...
One of my horses doesnt like being brushed, he paws when i try to take mud off his front legs, walks about the stable and raises his head as high as he can, etc.. however once he's been ridden and untacked he's quite happy to have a good brush down.
Ironically he loves nothing more than...
Ha Ha! They make every journey complete, or should I say Roaaadtriiiip?? What time you leaving, if you want to leave car at mine I can drive from there? Will plead an early finish from work but bridge traffic can be influential!
Yes, I hope to attend, did think that the start time was pretty early, organisers maybe think eventers work from home or on flexi time!! I will endeavour to be there for 6pm but work in Edin and have dogs/horses to sort out too. Looking forward to it though
There's been a reshuffle on the BE fixtures list, i.e. Burgie(2) now in June rather than July, Kirkley Hall in June now also rather than August, Burgham(2) now August rather than July, there's a "Venue TBC" on 29 June now (suppose it could be anywhere in UK tho) which would have been Oatridge...
This is appalling, I live next to the M90 motorway in east central Scotland, the current BE calendar now has NO BE90 or 100 events within 1.5 hour drive. There are now NO venues in Fife, Perthshire, Midlothian or West Lothian for grassroots riders
What is the BE rep for Scotland doing...
Echo that the pre-purchase vetting is mandatory, regardless of age or price there is no such thing as a free horse and being saddled with someone else's (potentially expensive) problems or a horse you cannot ride is no fun. In the past 2 years of looking for a young horse, I had 4 unbacked young...
Thanks Arctic Fox, not sure about gremlin but i defo turn into something else if i stay up past midnight!!
I really hope a new venue is found, feel robbed enough after this season's weather, without losing fixtures :(
Thanks for the warm welcome guys! No insinuation intended re: JO being the reason that the venues have been pulled, just curious as he a common link between the 2 organising committees and it was shocking news to most of the eventing community in Scotland. Can only imagine how devastated James...
I read the article about entry fees, competitors won't pay the figures he was quoting, it just doesnt stack up when compared to other disciplines/competitions but I see his point that events rarely breakeven and only the really lucky ones make a profit with current entry fees.
I don't know...
U really are a dark horse...think you should be promoted to Yoda status!! The link doesnt show any fixtures at all now!
What do people think the reasons are for JO having Scone pulled from under him & Balcarres cancelled forever in the same week? Are they connected or is it just a coincidence...
