Promoting weight gain in laminitic veteran -Alfa A Oil any good?

I found Alfa-A gave my veteran lots of energy, not an issue if you arent getting on board! I feed my veteran laminitic hi-fi, spillers senior balancer and baileys keep calm. I noticed a difference in his coat/condition when I changed from speedi-beat to keep calm. I tend to maintain his weight...

    Question about splints...

Do you know how your 4 year old got the splints? My 4 year old got a splint on one of her front legs a few months back. Showed no sign of lameness or pain related to it and she really is quite a drama queen usually! I really hope hers is re-absorbed and isn't there for the future.

Grazing Muzzle 24/7 and teeth damage?

Be wary to put the grazing muzzle on for 24 hours then off for a period. My horse must wear a muzzle and managed to get it off which caused him to collic as he wasnt used to the amount of grass he gorged himself on! Also don't agree with leaving them on for 24 hours and would try and find an...

Need help buying long riding boots!

I too am looking for a new pair of long boots and want similar sizing to yours. In my search I saw a lovely pair of Broginis that had a variety of calf lengths and widths, only thing that put me off is that depending what sizes you needed you could have to wait up to 12 weeks for them! :(

Mare with potential ulcers, help please?

Agree with going ahead and getting her scoped. Your gut instinct that something is wrong is probably right! I sent my 4 year old to get scoped and her ovaries/hormones checked as I knew something wasn't right with her. We found she had 3 severe ulcers in her stomach but also found a heart...

When is enough ........ Enough ........ Gastric ulcers

Ulcers are all about cure then management. If a horse has re-occuring ulcers then cure and medication need to be re-looked at before tackling a different routine/management for the horse to stop the cause or protect them in the future. I wasn't aware ulcers could be an ongoing issue forever.

I understand how you are feeling right now! We decided to investigate my 4 year old after a change in her behaviour and she started windsucking. I felt the same as you in that I almost wanted there to be something wrong so that we could help her. She had her blood tested, ovaries scanned, rectal...

    Fasting for gastroscope, any tips/experiences?

I recently had to do this with my 4 year old mare. I gave her loose hay earlier in the evening so she could easily eat before giving her her dinner as normal. I had to take everything out from 6pm as I then swiftly left the yard! In the morning when she would usually get a feed I put some water...

    WOW Saddles and youngster

I originally bought my WOW saddle when I wanted a dressage saddle for my older horse in 2007. I was lucky that my saddle fitter had been part exchanged a WOW saddle just the previous day! I absolutely adore my WOW saddle and really hate riding in anything else! When my older horse sustained an...
