Have just bought some of these, they did a great job with first use this week hunter clip and a trace on fairly fuzzy horses easy and straightforwards to set up and use and clean afterwards, not really fiddly. Impressed with them.
My ID used to do this when he was 4/5. I remember crying in the field as he just would not move. I can't remember what I did, but she is not alone and it was just a phase.
I was a WP 3/4 years ago so recent-ish. I had accommodation but it wasn't brilliant, we had 100 pounds a week for basic food for about 6 of us. So that bought cereal, pasta etc but anything extra/fancy we bought ourselves. Horses on 'livery' but they were out most of the time so it didn't cost...
Yes, did a trace clip the other week on my IDx Connie who has also been getting rather hot!! Took even more off yesterday and he is much happier, will probably do every year now if he is working hard
It sounds like a great arrangement that a good sharer would be lucky to have so I wouldn't worry about the arrangement or price which is totally fair (some shares charge more than that for a horse that can do everything and no jobs). You probably just haven't come across the right person yet...
I think if you're otherwise uncommitted so you have the spare time to manage and it is the opportunity to have the 'dream horse' then why not. I think as long as you are aware of the downsides and have covered scenarios like what if your circumstances change would 2 still be viable etc. Good way...
Saddleupsin, surely if your end goal is to run/manage a yard and you are mostly attracted to this EBM course by the practical/horsey modules (but we have a few people saying it is really mostly business/lecture/classroom based) then you are far better off starting with your BHS stages at a good...
You can get a really neat result with comb and scissors but does take some time depending on how fast you are but you'll soon get the hang of it, chop off the excess hair first!
I really hope that people on full livery would still at least pick up poo. Can't imagine just leaving a poo there. Sweeping bits of hair and hay maybe not, especially if the staff sweep once/twice per day. Depends on the 'level' of mess though
Fab report and pics. Gives a great insight into what it's really like to do it! Thanks for sharing.
Sounds like a huge amount to be very, very proud of. Well done. And what fantastic experience under your belt to take away.
See what you mean about 'no warning at all' at the coffin! Ouch!
Not surprised you feel peeved. I think the YO doing little extras only works in a certain situation, usually on a small yard where it isn't that much extra hassle and when people are grateful and do not take advantage of their helpfulness - IE: asking for boots to be taken off. Also very much...
It is your horse, I don't know why you would feel uncomfortable about riding her when you visit, or asking for her back. There is a nice way to do it, thank them for looking after her so well for you (gift/card perhaps?) give adequate notice, offer them the opportunity to keep in touch/visit...
I have a part loaner and would never expect or ask her to pay anything towards vet bills. Not her responsibility. The owner of the horse is already getting a very good deal if you are happy to pay towards dentist, physio and insurance.
My part loaner gives a monthly contribution that goes...
Sounds tough...can sympathise with you as I will be in the same position soon, I receive help with paying for horse while at uni but once I start work won't be able to afford transport or any extras like competing.
But unless you have something in mind to fill your time (wanting to start a new...
