I want a hat cam......but are they dangerous?

I think there are a lot of overreactions based on accidents that if they did happen would end up with the rider injured whether they had a cam on or not. I have taken a fair number of falls, and on only one occasion has my hat made contact with anything, and in that case it was a jump wing. Had...

I want a hat cam......but are they dangerous?

Lots and lots of cyclists wear helmet cams and bear in mind the outer shell of a cycle helmet is nothing like as robust as a riding hat. None of the cycle helmet manufacturers have a problem with riders mounting cameras on them, as the sticky mounts will detach / unstick if the camera hits...

    Introducing Child to Pony!!

I'll tell you how not to do it. My grandfather was a stable lad before the first world war, and rode for many years at the estate where he worked (I have the pictures of him hunting). I was born and brought up in London, but used to stay with my grandparents in the Highlands of Scotland...

Air jackets - Poll - For research :)

I don't own one and will not be buying one, as like another poster it's rotational falls that worry me and no air jacket will help. That said, if they help with peoples confidence and peace of mind while riding, then they are doing a good job. I would consider using one when riding a motorcycle.

    icey roads are you riding?

I rode yesterday on cold / frosty roads and it was all fine, even on the spooky Anglo Arab I was exercising. There was a short section of frozen water, and we walked slowly up the centre of the road where the ice was less than paper thin. However, at home, it was much colder and getting the...

    Tall men riding tall horses?!

I would concentrate more on the weight carrying that the height. I am just over 6'1" and I ride a 14.2hh New Forest who is a really beefy lad. Weight wise, at one time I was around 12 1/2 to 13 stone, but these days I am always under 12 stone (I do a lot of cycling to keep thin and fit)...

Is it the bit or is it me???

I ride an Anglo Arab for a friend of mine and he has a nasty habit of rattling the bit when he gets a bit het up. Our dentist suggested we try a very slim French link lose ring snaffle. I managed to find a Bradoon, which for showing is used in combination with a Weymouth, but which I am going...

Hey I lost my confidence let me tell you what I did today!!

I've not see your the posts but BLIMEY! From not being able to ride at all to riding past that little lot, and back, AMAZING! It just shows how important it is to match the horse and rider. I know there are many on here who can sling a leg over anything and ride them perfectly, but we all...

Is it the bit or is it me???

Has anything changed in the last three months? Have you started working harder, or in a different way, or hacking out? They will sometimes chew the bit as a sign they are getting nervous or excited. Think back to when it started and see if you can identify what has started this, it could be...

    When husbands help..

I (correctly) rug my own and other peoples horses, clean my own tack, do my own leather repairs, can take a shoe off in an emergency, but my (tongue in cheek) point still stands.

Horse nervous in traffic, any advice?

I think describing H as a ninny pony was probably closer to the truth, but he does try SO hard to be sensible.

    Boxing day ride?

We are going to hack out with ponies prepped fit to show, and wearing hacking jackets, shirts, ties, cream jods and boots polished to dazzling point.... just for the fun of it.
